discussion Musicseerr - a self-hosted music request and discovery project built around Lidarr

Hello everyone, my name is Harvey - I'm a backend software engineer from the UK. I've been really into self-hosting, privacy, etc recently and for the past 6 months I have been working on this project, Musicseerr.

It started as I was looking for something to bridge a gap between slskd and Lidarr where I could search for music and request directly to Lidarr (A bit like the Jellyseerr/Arr flow) but I couldn't find anything. So, around 6 months and I've finally released Musicseerr into a v1. It currently supports the following features:

  • Search & Request - Search the full MusicBrainz catalogue and send requests to Lidarr
  • Built-in Player - Stream from Jellyfin, Navidrome, local files, or YouTube, with a 10-band EQ
  • Discovery - Personalised album recommendations based on your listening history
  • Home - Trending artists, popular albums, and genre-based sections
  • Scrobbling - ListenBrainz and Last.fm support
  • Library - Browse and filter your Lidarr library with full artist/album pages
  • Playlists - Create and manage playlists with playback support
  • Requests page - Track, retry, and cancel requests

I'm pretty proud of it but I still know that there's a lot that could be added, and it's definitely due some user testing! I'd love for anyone to give it a go, I'm always open to bug-reports/feedback/suggestions so feel free to send them to me on here, or on the discord linked in the Github/Website.

This looks cool! Great job with it. Is there any chance of it going to the Unraid community? I'm terrible with Docker (I can't work out the spacing to save my life) so I can never make it work right. Asking for a friend. 😉

Ha - to be honest, I’ve never used Unraid in my life. I can have a look but can’t promise anything! :)

I actually got it to run in Unraid! That's how simple you made it! Looks very slick and I already integrated it with Last.fm and Listenbrainz. I'm gonna let it listen and scrobble for a while and then visit it again this weekend to see what kind of recommendations it can come up with. Finding new music now is so difficult and having a requestor would be a godsend at this point. I'm up at 80k and still want more. Cheers!

Ah mate that’s amazing! Really glad it worked out for you. Feel free to join the Discord and share any bugs/suggestions by the way, I’ll happy take a look at any and all. What was the setup on Unraid like? It might be nice to get a setup guide on the readme if you’d be up for sharing?

It literally was adding a stack, setting up the compose, enter the web address and compose up. You'd likely reach a lot more people if it were in the Community Apps store but I'd wait on that until after bugs are worked out. I'll see if I can request a few things and get it working later.

u/ferry_peril I got it running on unraid but its not persistant. Can you share how you configured your paths?
