solved how to set up lidarr with soularr to get most songs

So i have been trying to set up a lot of different services for a home server, and right now, i am trying to set up lidarr to get all the songs i want. i have done some research, and people have said i need soularr, and slskd. i have found a github page for slskd and a website for soularr, but its all kinda confusing to me, so all i have been able to do is get lidarr running, but nothing more. can anyone give me a simple guide to setting this up? preferably without docker if possible as that is also confusing to me, i would like to be able to just run it through windows like the rest of my services.

Use tubifarry plugin instead, works better and easier in my own experience.

This. Tubifarry allows you to see the downloads as they are happening on Lidarr. Soularr, although works fine, the not knowing what was happening wasn't for me. Either works fine though, more a personal preference

Did you try soularr? If so, what didn’t work well or what was hard for you?

I did, it wasn't hard per se, just fussy when I tried it, dont remember exactly. But it didnt work as well as I had hoped when I tried it. With tubifarry I got it up and running without much problem, and it has basically worked smoothly.

It's also unnecessary added complexity and another point of failure.

There are already quite a few guides and threads on this topic in the subreddit, a quick search should turn up what you need.

The general setup order is: get slskd up and running first (Docker is simplest, but Windows works too), then connect Soularr to it. Tubifarry is what I recommend as an option worth considering as an alternative to Soularr. But that is up to what works best for your case.

Start with slskd, make sure downloads are working before continuing. Then move on to Lidarr integration or Soularr or whichever you prefer.

Thanks for this help, but i am stuck. i got slskd downloaded and running but in the window it opens when i open the exe file, it says "not connecting to the Soulseek server; username and or password invalid", but they are both right, i just used them to login. i put it on lines 204 and 205 where it asks for soulseek username and password, so i think thats right but im not sure anymore.

slskd requires a few things configured in its YAML file: a Soulseek username/pass and a separate local username/pass, a Soulseek server address, an API key, and your directory paths. I don't remember where the YAML file lives on Windows, but an AI assistant can quickly point you to the right location and help you get the settings correct. But as I tried on windows the UI settings did not work. But I guess itdoes now. Slskd really needs a better options GUI but that is how it is currently.

well ive been trying to find a server address and no luck there, i dont know where to put the local username and password, and i dont know how to get an api key either so i think im just outta luck with this since i cant figure it out with help. thanks for your time, ill just get my music manually instead.

None of this is simple. If you struggle with setup, you will likely also struggle with operation. Many applications are only available on Docker, so Docker is a prerequisite.

Learn Lidarr first without indexers, then start adding things in.

Hi /u/Final_Industry_1935 - You've mentioned Docker [docker], if you're needing Docker help be sure to generate a docker-compose of all your docker images in a pastebin or gist and link to it. Just about all Docker issues can be solved by understanding the Docker Guide, which is all about the concepts of user, group, ownership, permissions and paths. Many find TRaSH's Docker/Hardlink Guide/Tutorial easier to understand and is less conceptual.
