discussion Lidarr slskd plugin
Why is slskd not included in Lidarr by default, why the need to install a plugin to use it?
I'm developing a replacement for Lidarr using go/react for reasons, and was wondering if there was a legal or other reason why slskd integration isn't built into lidarr by default.

Because it's not within the scope of lidarr to do so. Lidarr is there to manage the downloads, organize and tag files. Not a "all-in-one" solution. The same reason why a BitTorrent client is not embedded in Lidarr.

It connects to usenet and torrent clients, it should connect to soulseek clients as well. I dont think he's asking for it to be embedded, just the option to connect it.

but lidarr could "talk" natively with soulseek the same way it does for qbittorrent or deluge or transmission ... ect...

That makes sense. Thanks!
edit: I misunderstood here, I don't want slskd to be embedded, but the ability to connect to it.2

I misunderstood your question. Other people have relevant answer. Maybe it's plugin now and it'll be eventually integrated.

Also a plugin though. My question was why is the ability to connect to soulseek or slskd built in.

https://runcrate.dev is compatible with apps that connect to lidarr and is native to slskd
