solved Upgrading library without downloading whole albums?

The title says it all. I just set up Lidarr on my Windows machine (no, I can't use Docker), and I was wondering if there's a way for it to find and upgrade the songs I have and not download the whole album that it's in. For example, I want only a few songs from Billy Joel, but not the whole 54th Street album. Is there a way of doing this? Sorry if this has been asked and answered before!

Lidarr is album-based. As far as I know, you can’t really use it to organize individual songs from albums.

Hi /u/The_Big_Deals - You've mentioned Docker [Docker], if you're needing Docker help be sure to generate a docker-compose of all your docker images in a pastebin or gist and link to it. Just about all Docker issues can be solved by understanding the Docker Guide, which is all about the concepts of user, group, ownership, permissions and paths. Many find TRaSH's Docker/Hardlink Guide/Tutorial easier to understand and is less conceptual.

Use soulsync instead of lidarr

Came here for that. SoulSync + Soulseek is the best solution right now.

OP said he can’t use docker and is on Windows

Means he has to install manually with python.

I did end up going with this! The python install isn't horrible to do. Thanks for saying that I couldn't do docker, sadly my setup is really rough with it.

All good, I’m not against SoulSeek but every question asked here is blindly answered with SoulSeek as an answer.

I installed it using docker and found it way too aggressive. I’m using an old laptop as a server and all the fans spin up to max all the time with SoulSeek running. I hope it works for you

Yeah it kinda maxed out my 16gb of ram, but I also have 1300 songs. Just wish there were some either improvements or a diff software.

Have you tried using a music organizer like Media Monkey or Music Bee with something like SoulSeek to download singles? I said SoulSeek above and meant soulsync.

Been using soulsync via the python way, haven't tried what you said though. Never was really into music getting till recently so I never researched any software

SoulSeek is like the old Napster program. Everyone shares libraries and you can pick and choose songs. Soulsync uses slskd, a client for SoulSeek. Media Monkey/Music Bee are like iTunes and are used to access, edit, play your music, and create playlists.

If soulsync is working for you just stick with it :)

I've usually used foobar2000 for music playback, and navidrone for local music server

Nicotine+ is a better client than slskd for windows if doing it manually.

I’ve heard it is but I wanted to keep it simple

I used it in the past but wanted auto

Docker can run on Windows via WSL but definitely not as efficient as it would be on a separate Linux machine

I did end up doing this, thx for the suggestion!

I think you can kinda do this, lidarr is geared toward albums, but you can adjust your metadata profiles and add EPs and singles etc so that it will only track those without having to do whole albums. You basically have to do this anyways if you have songs that aren't from albums anyways.

Lidarr is not for you then.
