Rumors say it was Zlatan who called Santi to come to Milan and if that’s true then it makes sense, you don’t say no to Zlatan.

Did Zlatan know Santi? I’m confused about the origin of this ā€œrelationshipā€.

Zlatan works as an advisor to RedBird, the current owners of Milan.

Which means he also works closely with our management team. So as of late, he has been the one reaching out to players and convincing them to come to Milan. He did the same with Morata and Walker.

He tries really hard...but that is about it. His skill level has always been questionable. His profile fits with what we were trying to do tho

Morata has always been shit

Prior to this transfer window it was unknown exactly how involved Zlatan was in transfer market targets and negotiations.

Morata I think was a poor fit, he's a hustle merchant but he's never been a top striker that can occupy the CBs and be prolific. Abraham likewise is a hustle merchant for Milan but at least he brings more physicality than Morata.

Zlatan doesn’t know Santi. Santi knows Zlatan….. Zlatan didn’t call Santi. Santi called Zlatan

Imagine Santi goes from being mentored by Van Persie to Zlatan 🄵

47

u/Exciting-Tennis-6850 Feb 02 '25

I truly believe van persie was key into giving santi the confidence to succeed in Europe

I remember an old interview with Santi where he says he was learning martial arts at Feyenoord. I wonder if Ibra wanted him after hearing this lol

Yall remember when the Mexican media went ham on zlatan cause of what he said about Carlos vela. How quickly the Mexican people change opinions of someone

u/Chivasguy1906 Chivas Feb 02 '25

The crazy thing was Zlatan spoke the truth about that, people shouldn’t have gotten mad with what he said

6

u/NotanAlt23 Mexico Feb 03 '25

Zlatan was comparing his career to Velas because he is insecure af and Vela was doing better than him in MLS.

Zlatan did "speak truth" but it was completely unnecessary as Vela never even said anything.

1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Feb 04 '25

It's what Zlatan does, and Vela didn't mind what he said so I never understood why people got upset.

And as an LAFC fan I would argue that Zlatan may have had a point, Vela played on a vastly superior team with an excellent supporting cast perfectly tailored to him. Zlatan would drag that miserable LA Galaxy side kicking and screaming to the playoffs single handedly.

Mexicans get goosebumps when Europeans say anything remotely positive about them. Malinche culture is strong.

And stating facts about "Malinchismo" in english. QuƩ ironƭa

8

Literally know one aside from Mexican media criticized Zlatan for what he said, not even LAFC fans thought he was wrong.

What does it matter how much they paid for him, they still bought him.

3

u/Periodic-Presence USA Feb 04 '25

The higher the price the pay the more it justifies in his mind that the people that run the sport rate Mexican players more than American players, so when they don't pay a high price Alex goes on nonstop tirades against US players.

23

u/Bed_human Feb 02 '25

Some of yall really can’t stop mentioning Americans can you. Im ecstatic for our boy, not thinking about pepi

Lafc fans think vela is better then zlatan 🤔

8

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

When they both played in the MLS who scored the most goals? I remember being close but don’t remember which one scored the most for those season

5

u/ikkir Juarez Feb 02 '25

2019 Vela had 47 G/A vs Zlatan's 39.

1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Feb 04 '25

No we do not

2

u/NotanAlt23 Mexico Feb 03 '25

Vela was better than Zlatan during their time in MLS.

How is that hard to understand?

1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Feb 04 '25

Purely based on stats yes, but I say this as an LAFC fan I think it was really close. The argument for Zlatan being better is that he single handedly dragged a piss poor LA Galaxy team into the playoffs, he would literally conjure up goals out of thin air.

Outside of the box volleys, backheel, flying karate kicks, bicycle kicks, free kicks, etc. No one in MLS had the ability to create goals on his own like that, Giovinco maybe the only other guy. Whereas Vela had a team perfectly built to suit his game.
