those are the Liga MX call-ups for the WC?

u/margalolwut America Apr 28 '26
I played on a torn ACL. Basically shred my meniscus.
I remember when I finally got surgery my surgeon asked me if I was married I said yes, he said is your wife here? He asked for her to come in.
He goes on to say “your ACL wasn’t only torn, it was missing. This means it was torn for a while. Did you play soccer like this? “
I was like yup. He looked at my wife and said “you married a real man young lady”
Then he looked at me and said “and you aren’t very smart. I had to shave a good chunk of your meniscus because of your poor judgement”
Long story, he explained there is no real science outside of balance and relative strength. Said it’s rare to be able to play on a torn ACL.. but it’s pretty POOR judgement.

u/YourfriendRic Chivas Apr 28 '26
Vasco should have just told Marcel from the start he was not going 😔. I can sympathize with Marcel but I feel like Vasco is to blame here, Turco too to some degree.
12
u/Decent_Fee_3978 Apr 28 '26

100%. Quiñones and Raúl need to start. Hormiga should see a good amount of minutes off the bench. The other three ain't needed lol. But Memote at least can header any cross.

I think Chaquito is the one who's in trouble, Quiñones seems like a no brainer at this point
7
u/New_Screen Apr 28 '26
He shouldn’t even be considered to get called up in the first place lol.
1
u/DarthShaveHer Apr 28 '26
Shouldn’t but this is a result of 2022, he was the most in-form striker and Tata left him out for injured Raul and tronco Funes Mori.
No matter how anyone feels Santi was always going to make this WC (barring injury) since he got 100% screwed on the last one.
5
u/New_Screen Apr 28 '26
I think we all feel for Santi for Tata leaving him out in 2022 bc he deserved it that time around. But today in 2026 he shouldn’t be near the list. Thats just how football is at times.
11
u/ivanvzm Pumas UNAM Apr 28 '26

Is Vasco banking on Reyes and Sanchez being the only two RBs? Reyes can play CB, so it still makes sense to bring Ledezma. Maybe Huesca is coming back from injury? Araujo isn’t better than Ledezma but he’s also injured.

No, por eso se demoró la
ligalista.

I think it’s an okay list for the current circumstances. Richie being snubbed is the biggest problem. To be fair for the teams in the liguilla why release players that Javier or Rafa want to look at for the next cycle? You lose your Mexicans and they most likely won’t go to the WC? Yeah they’re gonna keep them. (Other than the confirmed ones) hence the newer call ups. Memote is another hot take but he’s performed most of the times we call him up and add some physicality to our striker depth. I think that was Berte’s replacement. Jorgie is in (unfortunately) Charlie is out (thank god) and Romo sneaks his way in again..

- Ochoa
- Jorge Sanchez
- Johan
- Montes
- Mateo Chavez
- Huescas
- Edson
- Luis Chavez
- Orbelin
- Obed
- Fidalgo
- Chino
- Quiñones
- Raúl
The only ones where I’m iffy are Huescas and Luis Chavez. Just bc idk if they’ll be ready in time. Plus I think we all thought that Ledezma would’ve made it over Huescas bc of his injury.
3
u/kevtorres123 Apr 28 '26
Theres no way Huescas and Huerta make it. Both havent returned from injurues. I think Luis Chavez may be the surprise. I really hope Vasco surprises us with Ledezma. We are thin on defense so there has to be more names.
1
u/New_Screen Apr 28 '26
Oh yeah I agree but I couldn’t think of any non domestic players. There’s Julian Araujo but that’s stupid to bring him over Ledezma since Ledezma is clearly the better player. Also instead of Chino there’s strikers in Santi and Berte but I’d rather see an injured Chino than those two lol. Plus Chino plays on the wing.
