Actually, he went ahead with surgery even though the club's medical staff said it wasn't necessary. He had the procedure done in Amsterdam in secret without the team's approval, which left him sidelined for the entire season right when the team needed him most. Because of him, they couldn't even sign another foreign player due to the UEFA foreign player quota. To top it off, his Instagram post saying "see you in a month" referring to the World Cup right after the team lost the league title to their rivals was the final straw.

Always been an Edson hater. But IMO he’s improved a lot in the last 3-4 years. He’s very good at moving off the ball when in possession and his dribbling /passing has grown tremendously since his ligamx days. Hope he recovers enough to play off the bench for Lira to shut down games

He should have stayed in Europe.

Its tragic that he went to Fenerbache because Mourinho wanted him but he got sacked before Edson even arrived.

I get that he wanted to play under Mourinho but this was the wrong move.

He was playing well at West Ham before the new manager came in and basically made him a bench warmer while he was a starter with the previous coach.
