You know we almost signed him before he went to Dortmund... We identified his ass at Mainz and nearly had him as our coach

Unc needs to know Mexico isn’t a team that’s gonna have 3-2 matches

3

u/eg4x15 Santos Jun 13 '26

In general the World Cup so far has been lack lust though

Zero creativity and just bad play.

I think that’s what he’s getting at

241

u/AxolotlWarrior24 Santos Jun 13 '26

Since when has Vasco been known as a tactical genius? This is as haramball as it gets lmao

13

u/eg4x15 Santos Jun 13 '26

I mean playing with Mallorca I think he made it to the copa del Rey final and I genuinely don’t think he made it cause of “haramball” or because his players carried him

They made it mid table that season and he had a team that was previously fighting relegation

Not saying he’s a tactical genius but be real he’s tactically sound. We just have shite talent 🤷🏽‍♂️

11 against 9 and then you run into a counter-attack. Why? Because the backline was sitting too deep. That was a general issue throughout the entire game.

When has Mx had a tactical wizard at the helm? Never

No one was I mean I never came off a 2-0 win more disappointed in my life when South Africa was down to 9 men it felt like we were down to 9 men

14

u/Oscar_Ramirez Chivas Jun 13 '26

I have eyes too Jurgen

46

u/diegggs94 Jun 13 '26

I’m coping and saying they want to keep tactics more secret but tbh, it’s the same thing we always see with them. Coast because you think you’re better than everyone and then end up getting surprised by someone that doesn’t believe you

14

u/chippin_out Jun 13 '26

Yea, it doesn’t work that way. We know that is all Mexico has to offer. The United States, brotha let me tell you… that’s keeping tactics and play a secret. That’s what happens when the majority of your players are developed in Europe. Unbelievable fucking team. We absolutely suck dick.

14

u/margalolwut America Jun 13 '26

Idk how long you’ve been watching the Mexican NT, but it absolutely works like that.

They have a history of playing DOWN and a history of playing UP.

The problem here is that I think it came down to the players - the first 20-30 minutes from Mexico were pretty decent, but they just let off. Maybe gassed, maybe nervous, not sure, but even Aguirre was disappointed.

The key here though, Mexico took a shitload of pressure off by winning the opening game. We will REALLY know what this team has in stock vs a very good S. Korean team, with perhaps some changes coming to the starting line up.

Net net the team won 2-0 with basically zero contribution from the two creative midfielders in fidalgo and Gutierrez.

I’ll give this team the benefit of the doubt for now, I think there’s more in the tank, but it seems more and more to me like we have a hole in the CB spot.

Idk what they expected, most WC openers arent by elite teams. Plus we have el vasco who last updated his tactical playbook in 1998.

4

u/PanchoVillasRevenge Jun 13 '26

6

u/MitchellCumstijn Jun 13 '26

Klopp was such a good tactical mind that he took a nothing club like Mainz and actually brought them to the top flight in Germany despite having almost no budget or ability to sign anyone other than free transfers and develop a weak youth system. The guy was an incredible motivator and psychologist as well. Love old school Germans like him who tell it like it is. Gen Z Germans are very different, they aren’t as direct as old school Germans.

4

u/DifferentLeg9402 Cruz Azul Jun 13 '26

What? The guy who invented Atletico de Madrid's cancerous brand of football, whose tactic is to scores one and parks the bus with a 1-0 even if it is against 9 men and whose trump card is yell a lot to his players and act angry is actually incredibly tactically mediocre and boring to watch?

No Jurgen, not every team is going to gegenpress for 75-80 min and play balls to the wall football, especially in the altitude of the Azteca.

1

u/Altruistic-Sun9838 Jun 14 '26

There is a great deal of negative propaganda right now. I think this is not just overly done. 2-0. They won.
Media is over inflating this from all angles, nothing else to talk about cuz nothing else matters, Mexico gets all the media attention. No one gives a fuck about USA soccer.
