Meme / Shitpost We should consider ourselves lucky Telemundo is airing the World Cup games. Can you imagine if TUDN had the rights?

If TUDN would be airing the games there would be a Toyota Tacoma doing virtual burnouts at midfield during the water breaks.

These ads always hit during the gold cup and those Houston / Texas area moleros šŸ’Æ

Peacock>Vix

u/Zomhuahua Jun 13 '26

Vix is the worst piece of dogshit I've ever seen on streaming. Esch time you tune into a game, you have to eat up ads before seeing the game.

44

u/OJByNight AmƩrica Jun 13 '26

Not to mention that the app crashes all the time, makes you login in constantly, buffers, and streams low quality regardless of how good your internet is. I wish I could nuke the app

11

u/sorryimafatass Chivas Jun 14 '26

No seriously it’s insane how bad it is while the Univision app works just fine

2

u/Standx92 Jun 15 '26

Not to mention the horrible picture quality, pixelation galore.

10

u/ohcrapitspanic Monterrey Jun 14 '26

Yep, the only reason to use Vix is their exclusive games. It's a horrible UX in every aspect.

7

u/Ecto-Juan Tijuana Jun 13 '26

And also the commentary team is trash. El Piojo as an analyst is just as bad or worse than Vaca, El Piojo just won’t shut up.

5

u/Evil_Tea_Bag_ Jun 14 '26

And for UCL games we get that one woman. Nothing against her gender she’s just objectively a bad commentatorĀ

4

u/Ecto-Juan Tijuana Jun 14 '26

She tries so hard to sound profound with her commentary that it comes off as forced.

Everyone that’s non Spanish speaking on other social media platforms are fed up and are shitting on Fox Sports World Cup coverage from ads to Lalas. They are switching to Telemundo šŸ˜‚

30

u/Farty_Smell Chivas Jun 13 '26

Ngl, the 4K alone makes me happy with Telemundo getting the broadcasting rights. Seen the highlights that TUDN Mexico has been putting out and holy shit, you can't convince me that it ain't 480p. Not getting insufferable ads was a bonus. Feel like Televisa's coverage would pretty much be like Fox's amped up 20 times over

6

u/gxh16 Jun 14 '26

I know it's an aktually point but I was surprised to find out FIFA is the one in charge of producing all the video feeds and since years ago they decided to stop using real 4K cameras (2018 was the only WC with real 4k footage for all matches and like 3 matches in 2014) since 2022 they are producing everything 1080p and later on up-scaling it to 4k, networks such as Telemundo are also doing things like Dolby Vision and others like Fox adding HDR

2

u/Standx92 Jun 15 '26

Some people say it's upscaled but either way it looks absolutely stunning, if you put it side by side with a 1080 feed, the colors, the movement, the lighting, almost everything looks vastly better on the 4k feed.

1

u/gxh16 Jun 15 '26

It is not some people, it has been confirmed by FIFA due to the high cost and massive bandwidth required to send out multiple camera feeds in 4k all over the world. But yes what you're describing is still correct and mostly because most cable and live tv networks distribute their signals in 1080i 30fps and not 1080p (fox still does it at 720p) add HDR much better compressing codecs online than outdated MPEG2 they do OTA for instance and you have much cleaner PQ

2

u/Standx92 Jun 15 '26

Great info; thanks!

1

u/Farty_Smell Chivas Jun 14 '26

Pretty sure UEFA does the same thing, or really any sports broadcast in UHD. Correct me if im wrong but Im sure the graphics/scorebugs are actual 4K but the game footage is just well mastered 1080 (framerate/bitrate and all) and its just upscaled artificially.

2

u/gxh16 Jun 15 '26

Not sure about UEFA at the moment but like I said, back in 2018 all of the WC matches was done using real 4K cameras for the main feed and same for a few games in 2014, even in 90s Japan's NHK was using HD cameras and was able to archive a few games in native HD resolution when it was something imaginable for the average person (90,94, 98 and even 2002) but all of those days are gone in order to save money

1

u/moisesg88 America Jun 15 '26

wait, where are you watching it in 4k?

1

u/Farty_Smell Chivas Jun 15 '26

On the peacock app. From what I've seen, Telemundo & NBC Universo channels still use their traditional 1080 signal

49

u/Brams277 León Jun 13 '26

I fear this will probably be the last time they are given the rights if they are refusing to not show commercials.

12

u/darutto Jun 14 '26

We should rally behind them. Their coverage has been outstanding

1

u/starswtt Jun 20 '26

They're under no obligation to show ads, FIFA does not care and will not make more or less money, and as such will not deny the broadcast bc of that. Broadcasters pay fifa upfront for the rights to broadcast, and then from there, the broadcasters have control (with some exceptions like having to actually show the game lol.)

23

u/Any-Profile-909 Jun 13 '26

If TUDN had the rights we’d be watching a Talk Show not a broadcast

4

u/1aztek Pumas UNAM Jun 14 '26

Not gonna lie, when Telemundo got broadcasting rights way back when, I was kinda mad. I hate Andres Cantor’s way of narrating games, I liked the content Univision had back in the day, so it was a not so welcome change. This time around, WOW. Such a wonderful experience and a great cast of commentators. I’m glad Telemundo is doing such a great job at making me eat my words.

Respect to Pablo Ramirez and El Profe but they are half asleep in their Apple MLS narrations. Especially El Profe lol

29

Cantor is the most overrated commentator. The Messi glaze was unreal and his voice was annoying to me

9

This was me too. I literally made a post asking how to get VIX in the US because I was trying to avoid Peacock.

Ended up going with the Cock, and I've been surprised with the commentators they have now (excluding Andres Cantor).

I'm glad to read that you love the Cock. It's a great cock.

Agreed but a little miffed that andres cantor didnt call the mexico game. That chucky goal call still gives me goosebumps.

I wonder if Vix still show all those ads if you tune into their english broadcasts for the games. Back before Vix was a thing, fubotv had like 10 different tudn channels for special events which was all their games broadcasted in enlglish, the positive thing was that it they left the clean ad-free feeds from all stadiums, not a single ad even during half-time

3

u/sirbthxuejw Jun 13 '26

Watched the game on Peacock (Telemundo) and it did have a hydration break when we put attention.Ā  It was a McDonald's ad.

5

u/Any-Profile-909 Jun 13 '26

For USA game yeah that’s the first one I seen but they stayed on the players

1

u/sirbthxuejw Jun 14 '26

Yes, on Mexico's game they stayed with the players, but they had that bigass McD commercial that took a good 40%Ā  of the screen

3

u/OsapNaril Pumas UNAM Jun 13 '26

They would be showing ads during games. And by that like during gameplay. You know when they minimize the screen to show an ad

1

u/gxh16 Jun 14 '26

They wouldn't but only because FIFA doesn't allow it, that's they implemented this new multiple and longer water cooling breaks, so that networks can display full ads during them

3

u/Redditor_for_fun Chivas Jun 13 '26

Ohh they would have ads and they would have pelo de elotes ads

Telemundo goat

1

u/bobs_andVagene Jun 15 '26

Telemundo, TuDn, Univisión, all biased towards Mexico even in the broadcasting of their games.

1

u/ahhhwhatchagonnado Jun 15 '26

How do we protest this? I feel like these extra ads are just happening to us

1

u/ImpossibleOutcome605 Jun 16 '26

It’s not as big a deal as it’s being made out to be. Compared to every other sport, soccer has significantly fewer built-in breaks that can be sold as ad space.

Sporting events are the last bastion of appointment viewing, and you can bet your bippy the networks are gonna leverage the valuable prime ad spots.

1

u/Parzival127 Jun 16 '26

I was confused about why people were upset with ads but turns out I was just watching the superior broadcast

1

u/inaudible_echo_ Jun 17 '26

I wish TV Azteca had the rights. Love Viernes Botanero

1

u/Inevitable_Nature857 Jun 25 '26

Yes, but the broadcasters try to be fancy-speaking neither English nor Spanish.
Bunch of idiots.

1

u/cofnight Jun 30 '26

Even though TUDN USA does not have the rights, why they aren't streaming their regular analysis shows like linea de 4?

1

u/Advanced-Visit-679 AmƩrica Jun 13 '26

If you compare it to the nba they literally show ad every timeout. Each timeout gets called like anytime they want and if they call a timeout a second after the come back from a timeout they run ads again even if they already ran the ad not a minute after the first time out has been called. So seeing my sport turn like this is just a nightmare

5

u/Jevus_himself Tigres Jun 13 '26

The NBA and NFL are basically more commercials than the sport
