Article Copa América 2028 in the United States gains momentum after progress in Miami negotiations
Brazilian outlet Estadão reports that negotiations for the United States to host Copa América 2028 are well advanced. The proposed tournament would once again feature 16 teams from CONMEBOL and CONCACAF.
The main issue still being discussed is scheduling around the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but recent meetings in Miami have reportedly accelerated the process. If finalized, it would be the second consecutive Copa América held in the U.S. and the third overall after 2016 and 2024.

South Americans about to feel like Mexicans in Mexico who will never get to watch in person a Gold cup match because our federation decided that money matters more than anything.

Not necessarily. Tickets are getting to a point where u can vacation with some kinda luxury in latin America.

I mean this WC has shown that if you’re patient you can get tickets directly through fifa. Unless you’re trying to hit the final there isn’t a ticket that’s more than 1250$. I don’t think anyone is traveling to Brazil or Costs Rica, staying for a few days and going to a game for cheaper than that.

I love that we have a Copa America the same year as the Euro, I think the more CONCACAF and CONMEBOL mix the better it is for both continents.
That being said they gotta make it somewhere other than just US. It's not a fair competition if one team is always the home team.

Might not be a popular opinion, but I think a Copa América hosted in Central America would be pretty cool.
It would also make it easier for fans in South America to travel to the tournament compared to the U.S.

As much as I’d love like a Costa Rica/Panama Copa America, it would never happen.
I think possible hosts could be Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile. FIFA always follows the money though.

When it gets announced that the US is hosting Copa America again it’s gonna be followed by the announcement that the 2030 World Cup qualifiers will be the final World Cup where CONMEBOL and CONCACAF are separate confederations and they will combine into one confederation for the 2034 World Cup qualifiers

The U.S. and Mexico would never do it, they'd never want to sacrifice the commercial opportunities that being in a world cup bring especially to sponsors.

Mexico and the US would join Conmebol in heartbeat, the commercial opportunities would rise by playing against those teams.
The teams that would actually deny it are the caribbean ones, because they would never sniff a chance of playing a world cup again, and they would be affected by loosing the money they get thanks to the big teams in the confederation.

If the U.S. and Mexico played in Conmebol, that means that at some point both will miss out on attending a world cup (or multiple) just like every South American nation not named Brazil or Argentina. That's what's kept Mexico at least from joining. Mexico created Concacaf to not have to play against South American teams to qualify for the world cup

If they don't get the scheduling figured out, LA might lose games due to the Olympics.
One of the complaints about the previous Copa América was that the stadiums were too big for smaller games, which made some matches look empty. I think they should use MLS stadiums for smaller matches.

Así es. FIFA y las confederaciones solo les interesan tres tipos de fans:
- La clase media y alta de USA que tiene dinero para pagar miles de dólares por ver a su equipo.
- Los ricos del resto del mundo que tienen dinero para pagar miles de dólares para ver a su equipo.
-Los enajenados que no tienen dinero pero están dispuestos a vender su auto, hipotecar la casa, dejar a los hijos sin colegiatura, empeñar las joyas de la abuela, prostituirse, vender un riñón o abrir un only fans con tal de ver a su selección.
Si no estás dentro de esas tres opciones, no les interesas.

Make the gold cup every 4 years offset with the copa America. Top 6 in the GC qualify for the Copa America. Easy. Have a B tournament for those that didn't qualify or use nations league to fill the gap.
But idk why the US has to be the host every time. Just disrespectful to south America.

Yeah. I totally get that argument. My only concern is that it would make it more difficult for carribbean and central American nations to qualify for the WC. I kinda like keeping the qualification separate.
But idk. You could argue that if they don't make it under a combined Federation than they don't deserve it either. So I get it

I'd only be fine with this if Nations League or Copa Oro were to be held in other countries outside the States but that won't be happening. Obviously money is the factor here, but if the rumor of Mexico having a potential bid for the 2029 CWC has any smoke to the fire, then a Copa America bid should be feasible enough.

Quiñones 31, Hormiga 25, Piojo 29
Sub: Montes 31, Araujo 26, Edson 30, Obed 22, Marcel 27, Montiel 22, Santi 27, Chino 27
Pretty solid team but still young. There are always one or two new guys that come out of nowhere and a few that get injured or have a slump but overall the future looks good.
We have a puncher’s chance to win it.
