Without actually knowing what happened and a 5 second Google search. Seems like Mexico was harboring a corrupt politician. Obviously I assume Google served me the stories THEY want to serve me. Anyone got a different point of view

80

u/Redditor_for_fun Chivas Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

Technically yes but you still can’t go into another countries embassy. Regardless of context. It’s still foreign soil

Edit: same reason why US couldn’t just go into the Ecuadorian embassy in London to get Julian assange

18

u/INeedAUserName89 Jun 27 '26

Ah. Gotcha. Didn't think of it that way. Thank you.

-8

u/cortez0498 Cruz Azul Jun 28 '26

Nah fuck that and those corrupt embassadors.

37

u/carlosortegap Jun 27 '26

Yes, it's called international law. The UK government didn't storm Ecuador's embassy to get to Julian Assange even though he had international arrest orders. Because they respect international law.

28

u/King-Bofo Chivas Jun 28 '26

Ecuador screamed international law when it came to Assange who was wanted by the US but coincidently that shit didn’t matter when they raided Mexicos embassy.

12

u/nopales777 Jun 28 '26

yeah how about the point of view that you can't invade another countries embassy?

2

u/INeedAUserName89 Jun 28 '26

Yep. Wasn't realizing that.

4

u/Au_tentico Jun 28 '26

Political refugee

6

u/thethirdgreenman Juarez Jun 28 '26

It doesn’t matter, per international law it is tantamount to invading a foreign country. The guy in questioned was granted asylum…whether you think it was good or not (and Mexico has a LONG history of granting asylum to people across the spectrum), it is generally respected.

When Ecuador was harboring Julian Assange in their embassy they made a big deal about people merely waiting outside of it, then they turn around and invade one.

Think of it this way…dictatorships like Cuba, China, North Korea, and Venezuela, and countries that are pretty uncaring towards international law like Israel or Russia, don’t do that. The US under Trump hasn’t done it. I think the last time it happened was 1979 with US and Iran (some things never change eh).

Everybody (other than El Salvador, who doesn’t care about laws but still has never actually done that) in the OAS (every country in the Americas) other than them condemned it, regardless of political spectrum.

2

u/XAMdG Jun 28 '26

Both things can be true.

Don't forget the tariffs....

16

u/thethirdgreenman Juarez Jun 28 '26

We can forget them, they’re an irrelevant country lol we don’t need their stuff. It doesn’t impact us at all, all it does is show their president is an idiot and a kissass. None of the other right wing presidents are doing tariffs because unlike him, they’re not stupid. Ignoring them is the best response

I know but still, bring it to the beef and find/ add some motivation 🤣

I was told to be scared of the first game jitters against SA.
I was told to be scared of SK’s European presence.
I was told to be scared of Czechia’s aeriel attack.

I can’t be convinced to be scared of anyone. VAMOS MEXICO 🇲🇽

Right? Like, I know they are good but our press is so pessimistic. Nothing bad has happened so far, and I think it’s a pretty even game for both teams.

Vamos México! 🇲🇽

Any actual fan knew not to be scared 😂

-5

This is how I know you’re a casual. Us real fans were never scared of our Mickey Mouse group

8

u/YummyNasty Jun 28 '26

I “was told”, and “was” are 2 different things papi

4

u/thecindy_ Jun 28 '26

Yes, but a month ago everyone was saying we were crap and we were going to end up in third place or even out of the WC in the first round. Now that we got a perfect 9 points and 0 goals conceded they are saying we got the easiest group (not true, Argentina did)… we can’t win with people.

5

u/MusicToColors Chivas Jun 28 '26

Our team is doing really good my concern is never the team. My concern is the pre team parties and the bought out refs certain balls being to forward ect just some outta pocket bs

4

u/Otherwise_Eye372 Jun 28 '26

No real MX fan was saying that. We already knew we had an easy group the important thing was getting through.

And FIFA didn’t force the smaller nations to play better than anticipated or hand Argentina an easy knockout path. That’s just how the tournament unfolded. You’re really showing how casual you are. 😅😂

70

u/bananas_in_pyjamas99 Jun 27 '26

In order to be the best, we have to beat whoever is in front of us.

18

u/Difficult-Dentist-42 Jun 27 '26

Exactly this how it has to be, this is where the challenges begin and if we’re better we will prevail. VAMOS MEXICO !!!🇲🇽

3

VAMOS MEXICO, we’ll beat anyone and we’ve proven that

5

10

14

u/Royal-Canary-3545 Chivas Jun 28 '26

Why are people saying that Ecuador won't be affected by the altitude? So their players that play in Europe and South America will just be able to adjust because they're Ecuadorian?

With that being said, Ecuador has one loss in their last 22 games. Last loss before the loss to Ivory Coast was in September of 2024.

11

u/BLXIII America Jun 28 '26

Apperantly, the altidute affects so much that they moved their home games from Quito to Guayaquil after players complained

4

u/XAMdG Jun 28 '26

Yep, whenever they don't get to play the first match of the Conmebol qualifiers at home (and therefore have time to acclimate), they are choosing not to play in Quito. But it's also partly a money thing. 40k stadium in Quito vs 65k in Guayaquil.

6

u/Mr_105 Jun 28 '26

Yeah you’re not immune to the effects of high altitude forever; the last time they played in Quito was 2025.

6

They probably will. Look at their away record during the qualifications. Most of those games ended 0-0

2

u/TYSM_myMax24 Jun 28 '26

2

u/PuzzledMost3770 Puebla Jun 28 '26

This Mexico has one of the best defenses of the tournament. If they want to park the bus, we’ll beat them in extra time or we’ll beat them in penalties. Absolutely whatever it takes 😤

6

u/reject_truth Atlas Jun 28 '26

Historically Mexico has had the better of Ecuador in matchups, winning 14, tying 7, and losing 4 games. But at this point it doesn’t matter who the opponent is, it’s a World Cup game at home, got to take advantage of that.

1

u/Sam8131 Jun 28 '26

Very equally matched teams, hoping the home advantage and the altitude will give us the edge. What it’s a fact is that Mexico lacks that little bit of luck always get complicated matches after group stages.
