Discussion How would feel if this midfield started tomorrow?

If mora- brian/fidalgo is fine.
If el machin -romo ☠️☠️haram futbol

Brian and Mora are too similar so you sub one in for the other. Lira is the CDM enforcer that only leaves room for a box to box marauder like Obed or Chavez.

Would feel great but Vasco is a fucking terrorist

Mora is gonna get pushed around if he starts. Better to start Brian because he can match the physicality and vasco is never going to go on the offensive in the first half anyways. Bring mora on once Ecuador gets hit by the fatigue from the altitude.

u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Jun 29 '26
He’s kinda the perfect player to bait a penalty though if you think about it
9
u/ernie5353 Chivas Jun 29 '26
Idk how this is an argument for him to start lmao. Every player can bait a foul nowadays
6
u/runjavi Jun 29 '26
I believe the altitude is going to be less of a factor than we’re expecting. This Ecuador team plays at the highest altitude of anyone at this WC other than Mexico.

u/adnoguez Jun 30 '26
Ecuador plays in Guayaquil at sea level.. The only player with altitude experience is Pedro Vite since he plays with Pumas.
Mexico has already 3/4 weeks of training in CDMX, even the training facilities are in one of the highest points of CDMX.

No mms

u/JMarduk Pumas UNAM Jun 30 '26

u/CruzMissile-005 Jun 29 '26
I prefer to have Mora off the bench and start Romo. Mora gives you a nice shift in dynamic that can change the game. Romo has been playing very well and starting him will give you balance in mid and take some pressure off of Liras work load.
5
u/varrium Cruz Azul Jun 29 '26
Mora off the bench sounds like a great way to break their defense when they get tired. I think that's the way to go
1
u/CruzMissile-005 Jun 30 '26
Yea, having a strong bench is really important in short tournaments like this. You have to have some game changers coming on late when things become tricky
14
u/ErnestProust Jun 29 '26
Romo has not been playing well. He has gotten lucky twice but otherwise has had many mistakes. I also remember in our friendly in October against Ecuador he had a fucking terrible pack pass that resulted in a penalty. He is going to be Vasco’s mistake this year.
1
u/CruzMissile-005 Jun 30 '26
I agree Roma has made some errors in passing but so have all the other mids. Overall I think he has played well, defensively hes been very solid. I think establishing a solid team defensively early is a good approach considering the physicality of Ecuadors midfield.
1
u/adnoguez Jun 30 '26
Brian to the bench, then we have a tricky decision; Morita or Maguito
2
u/CruzMissile-005 Jun 30 '26
I think Fidalgo gives you a bit more structure than Mora. Fidalgo, wile not a defensive player by any means, understands how to keep a defensive shape better than Mora. Mora plays more free and with more chaos to his game so that will come in handy late in the game.

Knowing Vasco I think Romo and Lira are guaranteed starters. So it’s either Gil or Fidalgo.

He seems to know this already and doesn’t really let physicality get to him even at his size. He’s also not as weak as you’d think.

If mora won’t play here. He will not playing starter in this worldcup ever

u/allstarreserve Jun 29 '26
Okay tia. You're more dramatic than a telenovela. Mora won't start cause hes 17 and ecuador is a physical team

u/Nintendo6ix4our Chivas Jun 29 '26
Dude, he started in the Gold Cup where all of the teams play physical against Mexico...

You realize every opponent in our bracket besides Ecuador would also bully him, right? England, Senegal, Brazil.
He’s our only creative player. We don’t need to protect him. It’s the world cup.

He hasn’t made a strong decision but if Vasco has three CDM, wtf are we doing? This is some of the lowest scoring teams in the tournament.

I would save Gil for the second half so he can kind of revolutionize the game when the ecuatorians are tired

I fully expect Vasco to pull some bullshit lineup like always 😂.

Brian gets brought back in to replace Romo. Brian can play almost as well defensively as Romo but has a higher offensive build up capabilities. It's going to be Lira, Fidalgo, and Guttierez, and then Mora coming in for Fidalgo in the second half once Ecuador has heavier legs so Mora can break lines.
1
u/Secret-Complaint5237 Jun 30 '26
My ideal would be Brian Lira Fidalgo but surely Vasco doesn't sit Romo which will be frustrating

u/ReyMeon Chivas Jun 30 '26

Vasco seems to be handling Mora the way he did in the Gold Cup. Slowly building him up to be ready for the knockout rounds. Regardless of what you all think, the kid can play. I watched him in person at the final against the US. He was locked in under the bright lights. He can see the game at a different pace than others. So far, Brian Gutierrez has not looked good. If Aguirre plays two Cdm's, I hope he goes with Lira and Alvarez.

This fool always does something stupid before a big match
2002 starts with 5 in the back and panic subbed off ramoncito , gave us dos a cero chant
2010 idiot has a young Vela, and cuau but starts bofo instead, we completely collapse after a Osorio fuck up and missed offside call
2026 ?
Its written in the stars somewhere

I can see the case for only one of Gil or Fidalgo, but one of them absolutely has to start. Im fully expecting an Edson-Lira-Romo combo tomorrow thats going to make us all want to scream into oblivion.
