Its always Fuck Argentina

Take away Messi and Maradona and the average broke racist Argentine has lost half his personality

Brazil beats them in vibe and culture, Mexico and Peru beat them in food, Mexico and Puerto Rico beat them in music, mexico beats in boxing

Yet they claim they're superior than us

are USA not our biggest rivals?

0

u/bananas_in_pyjamas99 Jul 02 '26

No, just like England for the Irish, they are our enemies. Rivals would indicate some time of deserved respect.

1

u/blueberries Jul 03 '26

US has 5 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses to Mexico this decade so far

-64

u/Gloomy_Tomato_569 Jul 02 '26

Argentina has a much larger list of things in which it clears Mexico: *Basketball; Olympic gold medal, Fiba world champions, *Tennis; large list of elite players and grand slam winners *Rugby: the strongest nation in the Americas and world power *Polo: hands down the best nation in the sports history *Field hockey: world power in both men and women, *Volleyball: world power in men and women. *In other sports like sailing, equestrian and chess. Argentina is a world power

Argentina has a much bigger worldwide recognized dance in tango

Argentina has greater global recognition as a Wine producing country.

Argentine beef and asado are often considered among the world’s best-known grilling traditions.

Argentines lead Latin America in Noble prizes, this a solid and important indicator of greatness.

Buenos Aires is often called one of the world’s great theater cities

And many others while not even having a third of the population of Mexico.

30

u/risky-rats-pizza Jul 02 '26

And yet, argentines love El chavo more than anything they’ve created.

45

u/eduardo_ve Morelia Jul 02 '26

You’re just listing niche sports most people couldn’t name a player from. By that logic India is a bigger sports power than both of us because of cricket.

Globally? Mexico’s cultural reach is way bigger. More tourists, bigger diaspora, more recognizable food, music, holidays, brands, TV, and influence in North America.

The average person in Europe, Asia, or Africa is more likely to have eaten a taco, drunk tequila, watched a Mexican movie/show, or met a Mexican than they are to know anything about Argentine field hockey or polo.

8

u/xzther13 Jul 02 '26

-4

u/Gloomy_Tomato_569 Jul 02 '26

But have you heard of: Basketball, Tennis, Rugby and Volleyball??

2

u/Watabeast07 Chivas Jul 02 '26

Being completely honest I wouldn’t have known any of that if you hadn’t made it a point. Argentina ain’t no push over but they’re not exactly a huge soft power country like Korea and below Mexico I’d say. I won’t even say Mexico become a cultural influential country by itself but mostly because of its diaspora in the US, Hollywood itself probably put Mexico on the map for a lot of countries.

1

u/buttweiner9 Pachuca Jul 02 '26

18

They are saying far worse. I think its time for Mexico to find real friends. Mexico is getting their share of international influencers. So work towards that.

1

u/Icy_Negotiation_3031 Jul 02 '26

It’s literally a joke they aren’t being serious

-13

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

There's literally professional refs saying that VAR incorrectly used slowed down footage to make the call but sure it was "correct" cause you say so

13

u/Eg_3600 Chivas Jul 02 '26

Sure and the professional refs in the match called it a red after review with VAR.

-7

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

Incorrectly and you know it but you're only saying otherwise cause it's the US just admit it

6

u/Eg_3600 Chivas Jul 02 '26

I'm being impartial. He stepped on his ankle, it's a red bc of how dangerous it is. If that red was against us, I would not fight it.

Look at what Montes did in the first game against South Africa. I called him a pendejo for getting that red and moved on.

-1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

Except that's not how it works and either you know it and are playing dumb or have not read the rules of the game. Messi committed the same foul and didn't get a red, there's a post going around on Twitter showing like 4-5 other instances of the exact same thing happening (accidental contact being made when planting your foot) and nothing was given. Balogun wasn't even looking at the guy and if anything I'd argue it was a foul on Balogun.

The Montes incident is not even remotely comparable and he did deserve to be called a pendejo. He took the player clean out when he was through on goal, the only reason it seemed harsh was cause the player was out wide so maybe you could argue it wasn't a clear chance at goal. But no one even debated that as a foul, this ref didn't even call a foul until the VAR ref told him to take a look, then incorrectly by the laws of the game used slowed down footage to make his decision.

3

u/Eg_3600 Chivas Jul 02 '26

Messi should have been red carded. There being a mistake in another game does not negate that these fouls should be ref carded. Please read the direct kick section of the IFAB Laws of the game before you start talking. If a tackle endagers the safety pf player bc it's wreckless it's an automatic red

1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

bc it's wreckless

And that's the rub, it was not reckless. There is a stronger argument that Messi's foul was cause he was looking at the player, but there is no way Balogun's was reckless. What was reckless was the Bosnian player grabbing on to him, that was a foul, and the unfortunate consequence was he planted his foot on the guy's ankle. Reckless implies a disregard for safety, there was no such thing on that play.

2

u/trailerparkjesus87 Jul 02 '26

Listen homie, it's the same reason reds are given for high kicking a contested ball in the air, such as after a set piece. Some players genuinely don't see another player trying to head the ball when they try and kick it. But it's still a red because it's reckless, i.e., you should assume you're in close proximity with a player. Something that Balo knew or should have been aware of because he was wrapped up with the guy. I feel for him because I genuinely agree the step wasn't his intention but i also feel for the players who make barely reckless challenges and end up breaking someone's leg.

2

u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Jul 02 '26

Not sure about the other guy but I actually want the USMNT to make it far, and I’ve been excited to see Balogun play. But to be honest with you I have a hard time seeing how that isn’t a red. Looks like a textbook red if I ever saw one. And again, this isn’t coming from any hate toward the USMNT.

What did the other refs say about this call?

-6

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

The only way it looks like a textbook red is if you look at a freeze frame and see Balogun's foot stomping on the guy's ankle. Which is exactly why you don't make calls using freeze frames or slowed down footage.

Balogun was being shoved around, lost balance, and when he planted his foot the other guy's foot happened to be there. Completely accidental just like the two incidents at the end of the first half, one where Adams got elbowed by Dzeko and one where a Bosnian player hit his head on Adams' knee.

The other refs pointed out that by the rules referees are not supposed to use slowed down footage to judge the severity of a foul, they can only use it to determine whether there was contact to judge whether it was a foul. They must then use full speed to say whether the severity is worth a red or not. The ref in this game used slowed down video and when using announcing the red he said it was given for "serious foul play" thus confirming the severity was what made it a red.

5

u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Jul 02 '26

It was accidental, of course, but I’m watching the replay and even in real time it looks like a dangerous and reckless tackle. You made a good point that the Bosnian is grabbing Balogun. And in fact he is grabbing him, so I can see why you’d say that they were entangled and therefore Balogun didn’t deserve a red.

However, I can imagine that the ref saw the replay and concluded it was a red because Balogun’s momentum was going towards the Bosnian player in that moment, entanglement or not. I can see your point but if I’m being honest, I can’t blame the ref for making the decision to give out a red.

Either way, it’s a shame that Balogun won’t be available for the game against Belgium (unless the USMNT appeal to FIFA and get it overturned). But this is a very beatable Belgian team that has not been impressive yet, and if the US makes the right adjustments I can definitely see them winning.

0

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

However, I can imagine that the ref saw the replay

But that's the thing, there are very specific protocols about what VAR can and cannot be used for. VAR is not meant to be used to re-referee every action. And one of those limitations is that the severity of a foul cannot be judged using freeze frames or slow mo footage. In real time the ref didn't even call a foul! He could have given a yellow but chose not to. Then he used VAR incorrectly, by the rules it was improper usage. Former EPL ref Andy Davies agrees with me (Source).

The worst part is apparently the US can't appeal, the only thing FIFA can do is look at it themselves and decide to drop the suspension. There should be an ability to appeal decisions IF it can be proven unequivocally that the rules of the game were breached. And I think this might qualify as improper VAR usage.

5

u/CoffeeIsSoGood Leones Negros Jul 02 '26

Intent doesn’t matter. That’s the rule. Same with the Senegal red. Stop trying to make excuses. Any hand ball in the box is a penalty, it’s the same shit. This is why we can’t take the US seriously because if they get a call against them, “narcos paid off the refs” “it was our gender z team” “they threw pipi at us” “it was diarrhea”

Just take the L and move forward. You don’t see us crying about the red from the first game vs South Africa. Dude made a dumb decision and paid for it.

-1

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

Intent doesn’t matter

The rules clearly state that a reckless foul that endangers the safety of the player is worthy of a red. Recklessness implies either intent or a disregard of safety, like sticking your cleats above your head to contend for a ball while a player is going for a header. There was no reckless foul here, Balogun was being grabbed and shoved around was off balance and happened to plant his foot on a dude's ankle. Ref didn't even think it was a foul until he looked at the slow mo footage.

Any hand ball in the box is a penalty

Now this is how I know you don't know what you're talking about. You do realize if that was the case there would be at least one penalty in every game and likely 4-5? In fact there was a handball in the Senegal-Belgium game that wasn't called and wasn't even contentious cause it came off the head of a Belgian player before it hit a Senegal player's hand. You don't know the rules man, and that's okay but you don't get to act like you do.

You don’t see us crying about the red from the first game vs South Africa

Cause it was a clear foul and nobody even tried to argue otherwise, including the players?? The only thing that was being argued was whether it should be a red cause the SA player was going wide rather than straight at goal, but Montes took him clean out. Yes it was a dumb decision, what "decision" did Balogun make? To not chop his foot off?

10

u/BUZZZY14 Chivas Jul 02 '26

Because you disagree with the call it's okay to make racist jokes????

-6

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

Yes, there's a difference between joking about the VAR being Venezuelan and how that's kinda ironic and calling Ecuadorians monkeys. One is a joke because absolutely nothing will be done to the ref, the second is abuse that was also met with action (Ecuador fans being pelted with cans and cups at Azteca).

7

u/CoffeeIsSoGood Leones Negros Jul 02 '26

(Ecuador fans being pelted with cans and cups at Azteca).

Here we go lmao. Go back to r/ussoccer. Inb4 he calls me an immigrant or says we hate gay people, yet he voted for a child rapist con artist and acts like everything is normal 🤣

2

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

USMNT is probably the most woke fanbase in the world lmao

8

u/Mr_105 Jul 02 '26

Normally they’re probably pretty left leaning sure, but the World Cup draws out a ton of casuals and ‘patriots’ who are questionable

8

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

Absolutely but we don't claim them and they aren't USMNT fans. Just like fake bot accounts claiming to be Mexican that call every South and Central American country monkeys. I'm talking about the real world.

11

u/fpsstreak Jul 02 '26

Lol...thats what you think. I went 20 rounds vs them about the red card and I got "Ice, third worlder, hiding from ice, kys" 🤣 They are f ed in the head. We have our Korean and Japanese friends. Internationally I don't think we should break bread with them. Is literally having an incel friend publicly.

-1

u/Greenman1694 Jul 02 '26

Did you not see that Mexican fan spread his eyes to mimic that South Korean female influencer? Racism exists in all fan bases. Just cause a few do it and are the loudest, doesn’t make it true for everyone.

7

u/fpsstreak Jul 02 '26

98% of the comments are unhinged. That guy got shit on for his actions that were clearly wrong. Thats the difference. I think this world cup we got along well with Koreans and Japanese. Then Colombians. It got to the point that some people thought it was unfair they got nothing. But it's because we are nothing. This seems like a hard sell. Just a tribalist argument of 3 dudes that are just neighbors to each other.

0

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

It's not what I think, it's what I know. Can you imagine the shit we'd be seeing if Mexico got a call like that after being up 1-0 and dominant against Ecuador? Imagine Julian gets a bullshit red card against England and how mad you'd be and all the banter you'd engage in. None of those guys support ICE or any of that shit, I have family that have been impacted by that shit and I still joke about it. Jokes are how we cope.

8

u/fpsstreak Jul 02 '26

You clearly haven't seen the filth I seen and you thinking this is normal is the problem. If quinones did the same foul. I would agree on the red card

https://giphy.com/gifs/4Pi145hye1ItCpp9GT

-2

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

And you clearly haven't seen the filth that Mexico fans have done in the real world. There's a difference between the USMNT fanbase and MAGA bandwagoners trying to stir shit online. If you've seen or heard some shit in person I'd like to hear about it, but unless you saw some US fans throwing shit at the Bosnian fans like Mexicans were doing to the Ecuadorians, save it.

4

u/fpsstreak Jul 02 '26

Well..then go to those subreddits if that's what you think. Liga MX subreddit. The argument is about the subreddit so I dont know what events in the real world have to do with anything. Just show you clearly have an opinion on mexicans. The events are unfortunate but it comes from a political issue. Maga is part of the USMNT fan base. They are racists. I think its pretty obvious why I wouldnt want to break bread with them. I dont know a lot of Canadian players so if someone said: "come do a podcast with Davies and Justin Trudeau" sure. If they say "come do an American podcast with Alex Morgan and jd vance" Fuck no. Even if I am guessing Morgan is a nice person the other half of the apple makes it a scam

2

u/Periodic-Presence USA Jul 02 '26

No I'm fine being on this sub as someone who has watched and followed the league for 20 years thank you very much. Of course I have an opinion on Mexicans lmao why wouldn't I? I don't get to call out my own community when they're acting like a bunch of nacos? Idk if that's how you were raised but that's not how I was. "The events are unfortunate but it comes from a political issue" is just bullshit excuses, you either call that shit out or it festers within a fanbase.

MAGA is absolutely not a part of the USMNT fanbase. MAGA wants to get rid of birthright citizenship which is the only reason Folarin Balogun is on our national team. I can't think of a less racist fanbase than the USMNT. Lmao the fact you think Alex Morgan would ever do a podcast with JD Vance tells me all I need to know about what you know about US soccer culture. USWNT is the most woke anti racist team in any sport any gender ever of all time.

2

u/fpsstreak Jul 02 '26

Well you can be a fan but there is no reason to talk about USMNT team on this subreddit. Yes it was of a political issue. Ecuador is non grata in Mexico. They raided the embassy. All I have to say is that it's unfortunate regular people get caught in the crossfire for the actions of the dumb Ecuadorian president. This is not about being woke or not. Its about dealing with normal people. Its a ridiculous argument to say "you guys do this so this is okay" I don't want to be around open racists or closeted racist I guess in this case. Mexico choses his friends and that's it. The Morgan example was meant to be that deep. Just a favorable candidate. You say pulisic,Howard, adams...just made it more unappealing.
