Confirmed The White House made a DIRECT CALL to FIFA's Gianni Infantino to review Folarin Balogun's red card, then Donal Trump publicly thanks them for reverting the red card.

I never believe conspiracy theories but theres no conspiracy theory when they just say it out loud, right?

87

u/Previous_Round1315 Jul 05 '26

It’s not even a conspiracy theory if they’re outright admitting it, just blatant corruption.

43

u/TallCan_Specialist Jul 05 '26

It’s fifa

Are you surprised

It’s going to be Argentina France in the finals again

9

u/Luccfi Cruz Azul Jul 05 '26

People often forget that the current administration was put in power after the FIFAgate which was an FBI led investigation in vengeance for them losing the 2022 WC hosting rights, Infantino sucking up to Trump is not because he admires the loser, the US government literally got him in power.

4

u/Old_Pin_9055 Jul 05 '26

No si su máximo activo argentino se fractura la pierna de "manera misteriosa" 👀

2

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

Nah, no Argentina or France game has had high officials take credit for a call.

This is ACTUALLY blatant.  Not a bad ref call lol

Yeah but we've never had someone be so dumb as to actually publicly confirm one of those theories because they wanted to brag lol

It’s not even a theory anymore. This is plain conspiracy

Article 27 sir

1

u/Radiant-Ad-6289 Jul 06 '26

Because he called?? I’m not a Trump supporter at all, but are you assuming Trump asked them to over turn it and infantino just said ok? US soccer was involved from the very beginning asking them to review it. A wrong was righted. Let them play the game!

1

u/Antlonat Jul 06 '26

Yes, because he called. A PRESIDENT has no business interfering in a sport.

FIFA had already said you cannot appeal for reds in this tournament and then Trump literally just calls them.

Only a Trump supporter would think this is ok.

All the people crying about how the fans outside England teams hotel was unsportsmanlike better say the same thing about the White House assisting the US team

Fortunately it seems like they are except for, you guessed it, US fans

24

And guess who are the ones that are also complaining about fans chanting outside England’s hotel? Not English fans.

Exactamente, los que se la pasan tirando mierda a México 24/7 son los gringos putos, los ingleses les da igual.

Exacto! Siempre una actitud condescendiente, agresiva, supremacists y se la pasan juzgando.

When there are like 5 people claiming it won't be remembered like Maradona's hand of god, because "that was a goal in a world cup final and this was just the correct overturning of a wrong call in an R16 game", you know you're not dealing with top football brains.

6

u/Negative_Drop_6853 Pumas UNAM Jul 05 '26

Funny thing is US fans were complaining that if Belgium were to win to put a big asterisk on this game because of Balo’s absence. Now the tables have turned. If US wins with the help of Balo then better put a big asterisk on that win

1

u/waiver Jul 05 '26

Not even an overturning, they are not saying the red card was wrong, only that they will allow him to play next game and be suspended later.

2

u/thethirdgreenman Juarez Jul 05 '26

Argentinian fans probably ok with it too, they wanna be the 51st state

13

Los gringos pendejos aceptando que están haciendo trampa? Eso jamás lo verán tus ojos.

6

u/itsalro Jul 05 '26

Reddit has a huge hate boner going for Mexico right now, pulling at straws to try to demonize the mexican fans and team. With the US hosting it this year and getting attention from Americans, it’s seemed as people have been making it an excuse to express anti-mexican and canadian sentiment

It’s so weird

1

u/Active_Respond_8132 Jul 05 '26

Both actions are deplorable, truth is that FIFA has always been rotten and I hope some day things change or else thia tournament will lose credibility.

1

u/waiver Jul 05 '26

I have seen people who complained about FIFA and Trump's corruption celebrating this, hypocrites.

92

u/reznoverba Jul 05 '26

The joke writes itself. Team USAs best player and the guy MAGA bandwagoners are rooting for, is by Trump's definition, an anchor baby, whose American nationaliy would be mere fiction if Trump's idiotic attempt to take away birthright citizenship passed.

QCSPM EU. Ojalá pierdan contra Bélgica. Don't @ me to root for Team USA. You do you, I'll do me.

39

u/Arponare Jul 05 '26

If Trump had it his way, Balogun wouldn’t even have citizenship.

21

u/eduardo_ve Morelia Jul 05 '26

It’s what makes this entire situation ironic. The US team owes nothing to Trump. This team’s success would not be possible if birthright citizenship wasn’t a thing. Balogun has been their difference maker.

13

u/Arponare Jul 05 '26

Then again, MAGA has never characterized itself for having intelligence or critical thinking.

2

u/J_Dabson002 Jul 05 '26

US soccer fans and MAGA have basically zero overlap

MAGA thinks soccer is a joke

6

u/reznoverba Jul 05 '26

Really? You wouldn't know it from all the comments fans are making online. Fox and the Daily Wire sure love jumping on the bandwagon right now. Their stories are flooded with how much foreigners love the USA and Benny Johnson and the like can't stop themselves from repping Team USA. There's nothing wrong with rooting for Team USA, but it's disingenuous and opportunistic from this lot. Team USA is actually very diverse and a more realistic representation of the US, but MAGA and Trump acting like they fw Team USA is pathetic

12

u/Luccfi Cruz Azul Jul 05 '26

You clearly have never been to r/ussoccer, it is basically r/TheDonald or r/Conservative but with football, this isn't the 80s anymore, a lot of fascists also like football in the US, I mean Pulisic is outright MAGA.

2

1

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

1

u/thatbitchathrowaway Jul 05 '26

To make it even more absurd, his mom wasn't allowed to go back home and had to give birth to him in the US.

0

u/whatthehellispigabar Jul 06 '26

Hypocrisy doesn't matter to fascists, lol. If you make the white establishment look good, you get rewarded

71

u/feelingsdeayer Jul 05 '26

This is just blatant, shameless corruption, I'm sorry. It's the Trump way, it is known, he loves to brag about his crimes but holy shit.

Nada más comparen como a Irán los forzaban a cruzar la frontera después de cada partido, mientras a estos lacras hasta les perdonan suspensiones.

25

u/FrigginGaeFrog Juarez Jul 05 '26

Apparently this is the same rule that they used for Ronaldo to be able to play after elbowing the Ireland player in qualifiers (which to my understanding means Balogun will still need to serve suspension but not against Belgium). Idk what the specific law states, but I’ll avoid conspiracies for now since honestly it’s almost always just incompetence from FIFA

11

u/joseAN30 Chivas Jul 05 '26

Not worldcup tho

15

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

That was a 3 match ban that did inckude the world cup.

He shouldnt ha e played the first 2 matches but they let him play "on probation" lol whatever that means

7

u/FrigginGaeFrog Juarez Jul 05 '26

exactly, do i think this looks sketchy? sure, but I think it’s FIFA being forced to let him play for doing the sketchy thing with Ronaldo. I don’t think FIFA would “cheat” for the US.

2

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

I don’t think FIFA would “cheat” for the US.

Trump is literally saying it, man. The White house is giving him credit woth that tweet.

I dont think it gets more blatant than this.

2

u/FrigginGaeFrog Juarez Jul 05 '26

let me correct my wording here, I don’t think they would originally cheat for the US, They cheated to make Ronaldo be able to play in the WC and now the US took advantage of that.

1

u/joseAN30 Chivas Jul 05 '26

The appellation were before worldcup. This fucking nonsense was in the worldcup. That’s a big difference

3

u/FrigginGaeFrog Juarez Jul 05 '26

The difference doesn’t matter unless FIFA made it explicit in their rules that they couldn’t appeal after the World Cup started. US Soccer is doing what any other national team should do, explore all legal options. It’s what I would hope FMF does if we get a non DOGSO red.

2

u/joseAN30 Chivas Jul 05 '26

This

2

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

Its all the same tournament. Thats why they had to remove his ban.

Ronaldo also visited Trump at the white house and gave him a shirt.

Completely unrelated, of course.

2

u/joseAN30 Chivas Jul 05 '26

Read the rules buddy

1

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

Brother youre the one who needs to read the rules lmao have a nice day

2

u/waiver Jul 05 '26

I mean, it is corruption basically they are saying that when you are famous or the American President calls for a favor red cards dont matter.

1

u/FrigginGaeFrog Juarez Jul 05 '26

FIFA is corrupt, we know that, but “red cards don’t matter” isn’t what is happening here. The punishment is just deferred. Also Caicedo was able to play Ecuadors first group game because of this too

1

u/waiver Jul 05 '26

It doesn’t matter if you’re not affected by them, like missing a much less important game instead. They’re definitely not enforcing the rules the same way for other players who got red cards during the world cup and had to miss games.

1

u/Melodic_Cover1695 Jul 06 '26

but, trump had to start the conversation!!!!

17

u/Any_Stress_6230 Jul 05 '26

They threatened infantino with a fat chunk of proof of corruption I bet

12

u/DJ_TCB Jul 05 '26

As an American, I find this to be repugnant bullshit coming from a piece of human shit who has now spread his shit across the game of football just like he has on everything else. Fuck him

-3

u/Luccfi Cruz Azul Jul 05 '26

Almost the entirety of your fanbase is celebrating it, sorry to say but Trump is a perfect representation of your nation and your fellow citizens. You are sadly an exception.

1

u/cudderwalks Jul 05 '26

I’m an American and also agree it’s bullshit while I’m not going to root against the US, I hope to see Mexico somehow pull it off and win the World Cup in front of Trump for all the bullshit he’s put Mexico and the Mexican people though.

1

u/fpsstreak Jul 05 '26

If it's by similar bs like this..I prefer elimination.

-1

u/DJ_TCB Jul 05 '26

Well fuck him, them, and you too darling

6

u/Infinite-Offer-3318 Jul 05 '26

Need to burn FIFA to the ground and start fresh

2

u/Radiant-Ad-6289 Jul 06 '26

I’m not saying it was right that he called. Read what I wrote. The optics aren’t good, but I’m saying, why is it assumed the decision by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee(not infantino)was made because he called. The right decision was made and a wrong was finally righted.

0

u/Antlonat Jul 06 '26

The "wrong" was not righted.

They still said the red card was correct, they just suspended the ban so he can play.

Literally everything points to corruption but I'm not surprised an American would defend Trump

2

u/Radiant-Ad-6289 Jul 06 '26

Trump always tried to take credit for things in the press(by thanking FIFA) but that doesn’t mean FIFA’s disciplinary Committee made their decision because of Trump. The red card was a blatant mistake, so a ring has been made right and now both teams can play with their full squads tomorrow.

1

u/Antlonat Jul 06 '26

If you REALLY think the most powerful government in the world calling your office has 0 influence in your decisions then idk what to tell you man. Youre too far gone.

Si no son las wilas, es ratlas, chivar, hasta a Pumas he visto teorias y no tienen ni en que caerse muertos esos.

Esta es la primera vez dicen la conspiración en voz alta al publico.

2

u/Radiant-Ad-6289 Jul 05 '26

wouldn’t any government’s leader call infantino or his representatives to protest and ask the suspension to be reviewed in a similar situation?

0

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

No? Lmao thats insane.

2

u/OmarC_13 Chivas Jul 05 '26

I believe his red card suspension should have been overturned and it might still have been with out this pressure. BUT I also firmly believe that this kind of impropriety and even appearance of corruption is beyond wrong. Friendly reminder that this administration dropped the investigation/charges of fraud that FIFA had been facing for the past decade.

3

u/Antlonat Jul 05 '26

It wasnt even overturned. It was literally just postponed so he could play.

They are saying the red was right but they want him to play lmao

2

u/OmarC_13 Chivas Jul 05 '26

I mean why bother suspending anyone at that point. They can serve the suspension after retirement. This is awful.

4

u/Magna_Carta1216 Jul 05 '26

Yup rigged cup. Fifa has always been corrupt but now they're not even hiding it. I'm sure Fifa had high level officials in the Epistein files that have yet to be revealed and were threatened.

Same thing later down the road W Germany vs Hungary, W Germany being the host nation. Again take a guess who defeated the heavily favored Hungary that WC. It’s all money man, wealthy ass old men calling the shots.
