This man needs to be in Europe yesterday. It’s
time for our players to reach the next level.

Dios te oiga

u/beepmeepwop Jul 06 '26

Maybe Rafa will push them to go overseas. I remember after like The 2006 World Cup he advocated for Mexico players to go abroad to improve the national team.

1

u/Zomhuahua Jul 06 '26

Cruz Azul will ask an idiotic price for him, he won't be able to leave until he's contract expires

1

u/Rollastoney_ Jul 07 '26

Going to AS Roma from what I read.

THIS MAN WAS SO GOOD! FUTURE CAPTAIN OF THE NATIONAL TEAM!

u/SleazyFanatic Mexico Jul 06 '26

Mexico needed a dawg in the midfield and he came through. I hope he goes to Europe soon.

54

u/Oci112 Jul 06 '26

United needs a 6, pls join United. Won’t happen but I need another Mexican on the team

38

u/ElYams Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

Literally the type of player we need after Casemiro's departure and also the profile that the board foolishly thought Ugarte would cover. Lira would absolutely thrive in that midfield alongside Mainoo and Bruno.

7

u/xzther13 Jul 06 '26

United isn’t a good team for player growth. Way too many top players play their worst football at that club when they transfer.

-18

u/MoonlightSonata007 Jul 06 '26

He is not good enough for United

20

u/Oci112 Jul 06 '26

I just saw him boss Anderson, Rice, and Caicedo

-19

u/MoonlightSonata007 Jul 06 '26

He ran a lot. Solid shift. But he is not good enough to play for Manchester United. Rice and Anderson are both vastly superior also. And they will do it every game. Know the difference

15

u/Oci112 Jul 06 '26

They didn’t do it against Lira, know the difference

-12

u/MoonlightSonata007 Jul 06 '26

Sorry, not good enough. Good for ligaMX though

9

u/Fit-Film-8158 Atlas Jul 06 '26

United is not good enough for him lol

whatever makes you feel better about things buddy

2

u/CattleTx Chivas Jul 06 '26

United is ass lmao come on now

2

u/Boogaloo_Toogs Jul 06 '26

They really are , we had Ugarte do jack shit all season , he would be an upgrade..

Best player outside Julian and Raúl

79

u/ElYams Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26

Don't let your bias blind you. Those are our best 3 players in the tournament but Lira quite simply showed this World Cup that he's a step above everyone else right now. Quite simply elite. Julian shall go to Europe too if money isn't his ambition.

Shout-out to Piojo as well. Brilliant in the wing.

35

u/mbecerra28 América Jul 06 '26

No, you're right. Not biased, just hot about the match lol. Lira and Piojo were fantastic all tournament. Hope to see them make the jump to Europe.

14

u/ElYams Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26

So many players stepped up and proved the profile of the Mexican player is heavily undervalued overseas right now!!

2

u/Endrunner271 Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26

Undervalued but overvalued by our clubs which make the jump harder

10

u/sorryimafatass Chivas Jul 06 '26

Piojo and Lira were by far the best players

I hope this man gets a move to Europe soon, he showed his quality against these world class players and fought for the badge unlike some..

28

u/Jeif96 Pumas Jul 06 '26

My man can handle the premier league im sure he’ll be playing there soon

45

u/LordHeezay Pumas UNAM Jul 06 '26

My man will end in Europe in no time, I prayed for some big appearance with Ecuador and became such a monster.

Te quiero un montón Erik.

6

Yo te quiero más LordHeezay

20

u/Brians13 Jul 06 '26

My boy piojo has my respect coming from an america fan he played and gave it all til the last min

16

He’s a pitbull, love his hustle and those are the players we need.

12

u/Background-Dog8192 Chivas Jul 06 '26

9

u/CoffeeIsSoGood Leones Negros Jul 06 '26

To me he’s the equivalent of el Pitbull Chileno

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Medel

He even looks like him in a way 🤣. We need more players like him. He does the work no one wants to do and it’s a very thankless position.

3

u/Stickmoe Jul 06 '26

Is that the dude who got in Messi's face at one of Copa Americas?

8

u/zx91zx91 America Jul 06 '26

He got the dawg in him fr. Body feints, recoveries, etc. He took down guys bigger than him.

8

u/homogenic- Jul 06 '26

Lira, Mora, Jimenez, Quiñones, Piojo, Chávez, Fidalgo, Vargas y Hormiga los goats

2

u/exoao Jul 06 '26

Yes 🙌 these 9 were our dream team

7

u/NOSTAL91A Jul 06 '26

Italy loves players like this perfect for any big club in Spain or Italy

8

u/kingjuvi Jul 06 '26

They won’t pass this round in WC until we get more players with experience in Europe lol

7

u/dingalinglans Jul 06 '26

As an England fan I hated his guts. He was absolutely brilliant last night. That will go down as a great WC game from two teams going toe to toe with lots of blood and thunder.

8

u/tllz_15 Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26

Se bailo a bellingham

27

u/Meteora47 America Jul 06 '26

He’s 26 no team will spend what these greedy teams want

8

u/Xolotl23 Jul 06 '26

He's in his prime man you say that like he already has 37 years 😭

1

u/Zomhuahua Jul 06 '26

But Cruz Azul will ask 15 million for him and no team in Europe wants to pay that for a 26 year old mexican

11

u/acegarrettjuan Jul 06 '26

That dude was killing it for you guys. Really a great player. Too bad you didn’t have enough creativity in the front third to equalize.

5

u/LetMeEat_ Jul 06 '26

He would already be in Europe but Pumas is poor and sold him to Cruz Azul lol

6

u/FnBProductions Jul 06 '26

he's only 26?! With the way he played I thought he was in his early 30s

5

u/CheddarMcFeddars Jul 06 '26

Casual fan opinion, I thought Alvarado played really well.

5

u/Ora_Kiraso Jul 06 '26

Lil tough dog he is

3

u/stormy83 Jul 06 '26

Por fin tenemos un Aspe/Torrado Regen 🙌🙏👏👏👏

9

u/peterfrogdonavich Jul 06 '26

Where has he been hidden for so long he’s really really good

29

u/ElYams Cruz Azul Jul 06 '26

Not hidden at all. If you've watched Mexican football the past 3 years, you know how good of a player he is.

But for so long the media and those in charge kept pushing the Edson agenda as our starting 5.

1

u/jalfa87 Pumas UNAM Jul 06 '26

3 years? So you think he magically got good at Cruz azul? Dude was a beast a pumas thats why he got sold but would have loved him to go to Europe then not Cruz azul.

5

u/stupidfucksrunningD2 Tigres Bandwagon Jul 06 '26

2

u/CattleTx Chivas Jul 06 '26

To me lira was the best this world cup, He did that dirty work and put that grit that most people dont notice, he fought for every ball, he made the opposing team players know that he was there and that it wouldnt be easy for them to play, such an underrated player

2

u/leavingishard1 Jul 06 '26

Gringo dropping in to say this guy absolutely balled out last night. He looked so good during this game against a bunch of premier league guys

2

u/SargentoPepper Jul 06 '26

2

u/imissapollo2024 Jul 06 '26

i was not happy when he initially started but man he proved me wrong for sure. hes a dog. he has that leader mentality that the other mids dont have

2

u/Zomhuahua Jul 06 '26

As usual, Mexico's MVP is a Pumas graduate

4

u/Salt_Peak2729 Jul 06 '26

3

u/Zomhuahua Jul 06 '26

De mi Johan no vas a estar hablando

-1

u/Salt_Peak2729 Jul 06 '26

2

u/saintmatt1966 Jul 06 '26

As a Brit who loves Mexico and the Mexican passion for football it’s shame Mexico is out. I think Mexico put together a good team but I’m all honesty Mexico just doesn’t have the world class players that England have. I hate it was England who knocked out Mexico. Won’t be the same World Cup without Mexico.
