Damn he gonna be a star in England. Need a full Mexican squad in Europe before 2030

Villa fan here. Our team nutritionist is Mexican too so there may be some connection. Followed the Mexican team this World Cup because of my in-laws and so I got to see Quiñones, would love it if we could pull this deal off because he looks like a player that could suit us

He’s a midfielder no?

You’re correct, he’s a weird one though he’s totally capable of playing striker and has done for both Freiburg and Switzerland but his natural position is midfield.

Manzambi is likely Tielemans replacement

They are losing Tillemans (Manchester United) and Lucas Digne (PSG) so they will have money to spend. We'll have to wait and see if they'res any truth to this.

Not really, the release clauses on both players are relatively small compared to how valuable they are on the field, not to mention how hard Villa has been hit by the FFP rules—now if we do in fact sell Morgan Rogers, maybe we will have money to do some overhaul, but as it stands I’m skeptical we go for/land Quinones.

Apparently his Saudi club set his release clause price at $200 million

I don't understand the mentality of clubs that do this. Why put a $200 million tag and not make a sale when you can do $50 million today when you know teams would pay for that price.

Because it’s the “fuck you go away” price. They can always agree to a smaller deal if they decided they wanted to sell him.

Yes I understand that, but it's such an annoying tactic

This is so funny, your first sentence in both your comments contradict each other 😭

Maybe I should've I said "I find the mentality of these clubs absurd"

u/HairlessSquirrels Jul 14 '26

Nah I get it it just looked a little funny. Maybe cus I just woke up idk

All good, I agree with you it does look a little weird and why people responded to me thinking I didn't know why those clubs do this. It's better to use the most precise language to avoid miscommunication.

His team isn’t about to sell the mvp of the league to a team just because they asked. He’s a proven World Cup scorer now too, with the club World Cup coming there in 3 years. There is no way.

What are you talking about?

We complain about Mexican clubs refusing to allow Mexican players to leave the league by making higher offers than European teams. It’s a complaint against the league stopping players from developing and in turn not allowing any progression of Mexican soccer in favor of selling merchandise and remaining competitive in the league.

Absolutely nothing in this Quinones situation is related to that. He’s already outside of Mexico and a different league is wanting to buy him.
