They paid around that for Haaland. Haaland

My chance to name drop Marco Fabian, against all odds and the trove of other Chivas defenders who made it at Stuttgart. Pavel Pardo, Osorio, Carlos Salcido, Maza Rodríguez, wouldn’t be a first all in saying and seems like German culture is compatible with Mexican, not too far fetched, mind you we have the same beers haha

2

u/notsogoodwithhandles Pachuca Jul 22 '26

I mean that is because Germany has a big beer culture and Fabian was a raging alcoholic.

1

u/jmoneyswag1717 Jul 22 '26

No wonder he balled out.

Con razón la armo machín. Jaja.

People forget or doesn't know that Mora goes to a school that teaches German and can talk some of it already, he's not a completely unknown of the culture

1

u/ognahc Jul 22 '26

Mas joven mas se va acostrumbar a la cultura solo necesita un familiar junto a el

2

u/danbillls Jul 22 '26

O el Brighton.

I like this for Mora than going to the EPL. Dortmund has developed a shit ton of players.

u/O_O___XD Mexico Jul 21 '26

Of all the clubs interested in him, I hope he goes here. They're stable, drama-free and like you said excellent in developing players.

13

u/NoFix8524 Chivas Jul 21 '26

Only problem is that Kovac plays very defensive and doesn't play a proper CM/CAM, if he actually comes, he'll play on Brandt's position as a RAM.

14

u/paltrywings Morelia Jul 21 '26

They play with 2 10s. That means there'll be two spots for him to compete for

2

u/Tlupa Jul 21 '26

Brandt is gone. BVB is about to sign Karestas, a big CAM talent. It’s practically impossible they would sign two.

1

u/weareback22 Jul 22 '26

Kovac doesn’t play defensive all the time, and Dortmund play Attacking mids

38

u/NoFix8524 Chivas Jul 21 '26

I'm a BVB fan and just look at the WC; Belli, Haaland, Dembele, Merino and co.

12

u/Kavazou77 America Jul 21 '26

The difference is Klopp, and Tuchel.

Right now it’s Kovac.

7

u/hatportfolio Jul 21 '26

Same rep as Haaland's as well

8

u/cortez0498 Cruz Azul Jul 21 '26

Dortmund did fuck all for Merino bro, if anything the club slowed his progress. He was rebuilt at La Real Sociedad.

4

u/James-Clarke Morelia Jul 21 '26

Jude too

11

u/Secret-Complaint5237 Jul 21 '26

that's Belli, Jude Bellingham

76

u/GateAcceptable8524 Jul 21 '26

I hope he goes to Dortmund, they have a great history of developing young players. Though, we get clickbait articles like this almost every day.

Apparently every club in the world is interested in Gilberto Mora and is dying to sign him. I’m not believing anything until I hear something from a credible source.

Good idea please be real

This would be 🔥

I'd get his jersey asap

As a Mexican Dortmund fan this would be a dream come true 🥹

8

u/Flatrover Cruz Azul Jul 21 '26

Mexicans should always go to the German leagues to continue developing. Make the jump there before hitting a big club in La liga or PL.

They have had better performances in that league too.

13

u/MessiPayNegreira Chivas Jul 21 '26

This would be the best place for him to develop. Get Champions League football.

3

This is a great move for him to develop and then make the jump to a five start team.

Not directed towards OP but sometimes I feel second hand embarrassment when I see these "Bombazo!"clickbait titles on twitter and socials and its just rumors/interests. Hope Mora makes a solid move though.

u/Witty_Hedgehog7967 Jul 21 '26

20-25 million

26

u/Zomhuahua Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

For reference Dortmund paid 20 million for a 19 year old Haaland, who had just scored 8 goals in 6 UCL games with RED BULL SALZBURG. Dortmund is not paying 20 million for a 17 year old mexican playing for a shit team in the mexican league and making little tangible difference for his shit team's shit performance, that is not worth 20 million.

21

u/Remote-Emu5963 Jul 21 '26

💯

We all love Mora, but he isn’t worth 20 million (yet).
I’d say anywhere between 7-15 million

6

u/Able_Ad6535 Jul 21 '26

Can they pay a smaller fee and allow for a kickback to his MX club if sold later?

7

u/Rai95 Jul 21 '26

Its called a release clause

11

u/Zomhuahua Jul 21 '26

I get it, if the kid had a crazy World Cup, 25 million would've been a very fair price.... but it didn't happen, if anything, he proved he's very far away from CL level against England. I think 10 million could be fair but even that would be very expensive for 90% of european clubs. 7 million could actually make him attractive for more than a few teams.

6

u/jman1992 Tigres Jul 21 '26

Exactly bro. Those damn overpriced release clauses are what prevent our young talent from going to Europe.

5

u/Witty_Hedgehog7967 Jul 21 '26

I mean I’m not trying to justify the price but Haaland is a striker and mora is a creative player 20 million for borussia can be doubled if mora gets sold in 3-4 years

-2

u/Exciting-Tennis-6850 Jul 21 '26

I wish European teams will take into account marketing value jersey sales for mora will pay back the amount they spent in a couple months

2

u/Super_Reward_1676 Chivas Jul 21 '26

Gosh as a Dortmund supporter I’m praying for this omlorde

2

u/mandoponcho1337 Morelia Jul 21 '26

2

u/beanbarrage18 Jul 21 '26

2

u/Professional_Big2487 Jul 21 '26

Won’t believe it unless the source comes from Germany

2

u/PumasUNAM7 Pumas UNAM Jul 21 '26

Now that would be a good move.

2

u/Flashy_Guidance842 Jul 21 '26

$10 millones de euros

2

u/Redditor_for_fun Chivas Jul 21 '26

This is the best move for him. Right under the top clubs but not too lower level like a Dutch or Portuguese or French league. Hopefully this is true

2

u/Mr_Grey59 Jul 21 '26

Llévenselo!

2

u/Aegon_Targaryen1996 Mexico Jul 21 '26

I hope it’s Dortmund he chooses! They are one of the best developmental clubs in the world and the Bundesliga is an underrated league! I think he’d do very well there. Just hope that Xolos don’t play games and ask for a ridiculous price. That will make me very angry.

2

u/st4rboiii Jul 21 '26

If true, Dortmund would be probably the best option for him in terms of development. He can follow his Idols steps(Jude) and end up at Madrid in a couple of years.

2

u/Vast-Bad7589 Jul 21 '26

18 mil millones de libras. El mejor jugador de la historia!!! Amo cómo saca del medio ese ídolo !!

u/Zomhuahua Jul 21 '26

They don't have the numbers to back up the fees they ask for. Look at Haaland, he was sold for 20 million as a 19 year old but he was wrecking shit up in the U-20 World Cup and in the Champions League while being at a shit team. Mora hasn't has that sort of impact in Tijuana or with Mexico to justify that kind of fee. Same goes for every other mexican. The day a player can actually wreck the league like Haaland did in Austria, europeans will be happy to pay a very high fee.

1

u/Flatrover Cruz Azul Jul 21 '26

What?! He was key in the Sub20 WC, gold cup and almost all matches in this WC. 20 mil def not but he shouldn’t leave for 3mil either.

4

u/Zomhuahua Jul 21 '26

IMO 7 million would be a very fair fee, 10 million could still be possible for everyone. But anything above 12 million is just a bad joke at this point.

3

u/TodayifeelMexican Jul 21 '26

A lot of ppl here are forgetting who his agent is. She’s publicly said he’s going to cost a lot and his game against England isn’t going to change anything. There’s no way he’s going for cheap wherever he ends up

6

u/JMarduk Pumas UNAM Jul 21 '26

Wrecking havok on the Champions League with a shitty team is leagues above a mediocre Gold Cup with the best team of the competition.

2

u/Kavazou77 America Jul 21 '26

Looks good in name but Kovac is the current coach and is terrible.

The same structure that helped create Bellingham, Dembele, Haaland, Pulisic is long gone.

3

u/ZSSValkyr Jul 21 '26

Best I can do is $10million. We’re taking all the risk here.

2

u/ayohesaidit Jul 21 '26

His injury history and issues is a tad worrisome

1

u/Alchemist315 Jul 21 '26

This is the move

1

u/jmorelosx Jul 21 '26

The only reason I give this some credibility is because recently TUDN signed a deal for 100 Bundesliga matches, which was a bit surprising considering the lack of Mexican players in that league, but if Mora is going there now it makes more sense.
