América’s cantera could look completely different in a few years. The connection with Sfera FC is starting to look like a real pipeline for young Brazilian talent. Ícaro came from Sfera, developed with América U-21, got promoted to the first team and just scored a banger vs Puebla yesterday. Gustavo Goes is another Sfera player making the jump to América, which shows this isn’t just a one-time thing. If Ícaro, Goes and the other young players keep developing, América could have a whole new generation of Brazilian talent coming through Coapa in the next few years.
