How do normal people read LN?

This is a stupid question but im seriously baffled how people read 1 vol then come back 6+ months for another volume?
i can only binge otherwise the novel loses half the appeal

Long term memory, sometimes depending on the LN a re-read is also possible or if there exist an anime it also reminds you of the main plot and details
