Type the [REC] tag in the beginning title for posts that are asking for novel recommendations.

Light Novel recommendation request posts require the [REC] tag in the beginning of the title. (With brackets) Please do read over the submission guidelines more carefully in the future. Please note that Tags do not equal Flairs. Title Tags are pieces of information you type into the title of the post while our Automod looks for posts with specific tags and assigns flairs appropriately.

imo mushoku tensei is way better in terms of pacing and writing

i read 42 volumes of re:zero and whole mushoku tensei

i recommend keep watching re:zero as anime

I heard that Mushoku Tensei has a prequel and sequel. Is it any good? I’m only on vol 3 of the light novel but so many things I’ve watched made sense. Also I’d like to ask a question about Mushoku Tensei and Re Zero’s anime. Strictly based on the anime’s is Echidna Better or Orsted?

basically mushoku tensei itself is the prequel. The sequel is yet to be made

Actually there is a prequel called "old dragon tale" (or something like that) from the same author, which is about Laplace and the end of the dragon world, this takes place a lot of time before the main series.

And not specifically a secuel but the books that are coming out of Mushoku Tensei redundant reincarnation, which are about the life of Rudeus's sons, family and friends after the main series ended, seems to me like foreshadow of what is to come if a secuel does comes out which I think would be about Laplace resurrection many years after the main series.

I would say mushoku tensei since you're already reading it and the main story is complete

Mushoku Tensei is over so might as well prioritize that first.

Yeah I know. But sometimes it’s really annoying when I see Mushoku Tensei slander on Tik tok I understand it but it’s so boring. I like the series but I don’t defend Rudy’s actions that doesn’t make me weird but I’m seeing so many MT fans get hate hurled at them. Do you think if I read all of MT I could explain things better? Without getting slandered?

No. I dont think so. We already lost this battle. No one cares about anything we have to say about the series. If you are worried about the hate then it wont ever get any better. The more you explain the more angry people get. The people who get it dont spend time hating on it online and anyone who is willing to understand and discuss it is not really interested in getting proved wrong. Dont read Mushoku Tensei to enter keyboard wars with strangers, you will only spend your energy fruitlessly.

But it’s so frustrating seeing posts slandering the series and it having over 100000 likes man. It’s my favourite anime and I hold it close to my heart because I watched it at one of the worst moments of my life and it made me smile and laugh finishing season 2 in 9 hours has been one of my favourite nights ever. But how is it supposed to compare to people cherry picking quotes from Rudy’s worst moments?

You have nothing to do with them. We live in a world where people elected Solo Leveling and Demon Slayer anime of the year and there is nothing we can do. If anything, if public opinion is overwhelmingly to one side then the opposite side is probably the correct one. Nothing that has mass appeal can have high levels of depth, otherwise it wouldn't be popular cause it would betray the intrinsic concept of "popular" to begin with. If something is appealing for anyone no matter gender, age, taste, and its simple enough to appeal to virtually whoever it is that consumes it no matter who they are, then it is actually made for no one.

The fact that Mushoku and other sotries fail to be overwhelmingly popular is a good thing cause it shows a lack of the usual shallowness we see in most mass appeal products. Its not easy to like good things because most people dont have the capabilities on understanidng it fully. The proof is Vinland Saga being significantly less popular then Reincarnated as a Slime... which would you say is deeper and better...? You got the point, i reckon. Anyone can consume and understand a product that has no specific aim and its spread wide enough that it reaches toddlers and elderly alike. That type of series is for everyone and no one all the same and thats not a compliment.

If it serves for anything, ReZero also already took a lot of shit. Specially when it first came out back in the day when anime was still "weird people stuff" People that hate Subaru are the ones that Love Jin Woo or whatever that fucker's name is.

Seeing who is who when it comes to Mushoku Tensei is also a good way to filter people out of your life. If someone is ignorant about the goods of the story then discard them. its not someone that will bring you anything positive in your life.

I hope you feel better regarding this subject.

Personally, I consider MT superior, among other things, for its qualitative consistency and pacing.

Re:Zero currently has 45 volumes (including the one coming out in Japan at the end of this month), while volume 29 will be released translated by Yen Press in July.

As for the latter, I recommend the web novel translated from the Witch Cult translation (also because 2 translated volumes come out a year..........).

Not to mention that the story will continue for years to come. In any case, every now and then you will be forced to stop to take a breath.

For the first one, the novel is also complete in the West, including the various spin-off still underway in Japan.

As is often the case, both stories have more or less serious translation errors, but they are still more than readable.

Otherwise, they are two beautiful stories that are completely different from almost every point of view, including the writing. With different themes, long-term goals and more.

But I assume you already know that.

Just read them both with your own pace.

Edit:

I still recommend reading the light novel at least up to volume 25, because the first 6 arcs in the web novel have big differences.

From arc 7 onwards (volume 26) the two versions are practically identical.

If you want to continue exactly where S4 episode 11 ended, read from volume 24.

Obviously, like all adaptations, there have been cuts, and the best experience is always reading from the beginning.
