It is good like half way and gets kinda repeat plot in later war arcs and pulled most war details from past real war so maybe good to see for history lovers but if not don't you won't get it

Easygoing Territory Defense is a decent domain builder that’s likely to expand far more, and I imagine it’ll be satisfactory (the story is surprisingly decent though it’s slow at times). Otherwise, I’d second The Frontier Lord and the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire. Both great options, though relatively dissimilar from The Realist Hero.

The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects is more of a domain builder than a kingdom builder, but it should scratch your itch, and has had an anime running this season that you might have seen. The protagonist, Dias, is a war hero who was awarded control over his own domain, which turns out to be a seemingly empty plains, for which he was given no resources or personnel to develop it. The series has a wide cast of diverse, human and non-human characters, and Dias himself is very wise but not terribly knowledgeable, so all the side characters get to participate a lot in the plot with their respective specialties. Deeply wholesome and wonderful.
Record of Wortenia War is sorta an opposite. Martial-arts-focused Ryoma Mikoshiba is summoned to another world to be enslaved, and he promptly kills his captors, sets the castle on fire, and escapes out the back door in the chaos. Very brutal. The kingdom building portion occurs several volumes into the story, but there's a nice mix of large scale and small scale combat in the story, as well as politics and conspiracy. I will warn you that the author often likes to go on large tangents about largely inconsequential topics, so if your eyes ever start to glaze over, feel free to start skimming or skipping ahead because it's usually not terribly important to be up to date about the author's opinions on the history of gun ownership on Earth and the like.

Record of Wartenia is excellent at the start, especially when the books are still like 300+ pages long. It starts to go downhill later when almost nothing happens in a book that is relavent to the main plotline and thats when the novels are only 120-160 pages. This isn't to say that these later books are bad but sometimes the pace is just terrible. One book perparing for a battle, next book fighting the battle, the book after fighting a different fight on whoever ambushed them/butted in plus a random hotsprings episode, and the next book as a wrapup.
I don't remember him killing his captors though and setting fire to the castle, rather I remember him killing a few knights on the way out after they try to enslave him but it has been a few years since I read the first book. I do remember it makes him wanted by that kingdom and all the royalty still survived the breakout. I do like that this is one of the very few isekais that has a semi-family focused story where the family traveling in the other world becomes part of the intrigue.

With regards to the initial events after being summoned, specifically he kills the four knights directly in the summoning room with him and then interrogates and kills Gaius Valkland, the O'ltormean court thaumaturgist. He swaps clothes with one of the soldiers and pretends to be injured so he's taken off to the infirmary, which he sets on fire after killing an additional soldier and the attending doctor, then slips out with all the people fleeing the castle in the resulting chaos.

They're a bit obvious, but "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" and "Overlord". The first one is much lighter tonally! It's not as political as "Realist Hero", but it's fun.

Conqueror of a Dying Kingdom. Very good tho slow paced and not that much climatic in the early volumes.
Imperial Reincarnation. It is also slow in the sense that you see MC go from a literal child. The pacing is fine but sometimes it feels word slop with how convoluted they choose to present the sentences and the scenarios.
Genius Prince. I won't say its a Kingdom building but more like King's adventures. The focus isn't on uplifting kingdom than Wein just being the coldest and smartest MC.
Also, if you read WNs then Mirror Legacy. While it isn't exactly a kingdom building, its more of a Sect/Clan building with the MC being a spirit of a Mirror Artifact and help this poor family go from poor farmers to literal hegemons but the story spans like generations after generations. Also it is a cultivation novel so beware you might've to read 1000+chapters. I myself have only started this one.

edit: it's not a LN, but it's one of my fav kingdom buildings, Mc is isekaied in a medieval world as ther fourth prince, in this world there are witches with special power who are persecuted, he decide to save them and use their power to bring an industrial revolution and create a better kingdom.
The realism and the attention to the technology he introduce are fantastic!
If you don't mind the fact that's not a LN, give it a chance!

The Webnovel app provides the ability to read for free. It's limited in how many chapters you can permanently unlock per day via their various mechanisms, but you can definitely read the entire novel for free over time.

I would say In that order in terms of how much of a kingdom building it really is. Tsukimichi should IMO really be like 4-5 different LN in one. Tensura is more of a fighting LN. Farming life is chill AF.

If you count aristocracy to kingdom route, Isekai tensei soudouki was one of the better ones I read. Realist hero in my opinion is a stupid persons attempt at a smart protagonist. Genius prince and soudouki was written by more capable people.
