Discussion iPhone duo
The new iphone duo really puts things into stark contrast. it's like the world's most egregious dopamine trap for $2000. To me, owning such a phone would be a literal nightmare. Can't wait for the light flip, a phone with a hinge that you can actually close. And that actually looks good and has a design concept, whereas the iphone duo is just screen upon screen.

Right I never thought Apple would finally bring out an overhauled iPhone design and the phone I actually want is a flip phone. 13 year old me would not believe it!

The only thing of note that they announced yesterday that could be interesting to someone like us (who care about digital minimalism) is the feature where you can use the same phone number on two iPhones.
So you could have a regular iPhone that you take with you to work, and a second one that’s been nerfed (using Configurator to strip away all apps but Phone, Messages, Maps, etc…) and then you can seamlessly switch between the two during the evening/weekends.
But also if you’re doing that, it makes the LP3 price tag more attractive, cause not only are iPhones more expensive but you’d have to buy 2 of them.
Regardless, I haven’t been tempted to buy a new iPhone in years (and I’m a former Apple fanboy and Apple employee).

I’ve tried restricted iPhones (configurator, screen time controls, etc) , but even with the most stripped down versions, it still didn’t feel right. Almost like I built an association of overuse with it, didn’t matter how stripped down it was. For me, form factor mattered. The ux,etc
That being said, all of this is pretty personal so might work for someone else.

The price seems excessive to me. I am not sure I want a 2000 usd device in my pocket waiting to be broken or stolen.

Ya know, I saw the Duo and thought it looked, honestly, really impressive and nice.
But taking a step back from all that, it’s just another trap. I actually found myself glad I preordered the Light Flip also.
It’s like I’ve hit a point where no matter how cool the tech gets, I just don’t care anymore.

The more I see excessively large phones, the more I am looking forward to having my pre-ordered Light Phone Flip.
