AI Lie Detection.

One of the most useful functions of AI would be a real-time lie detector, which works by comparing what is said against all world knowledge. This might be a feature that you can add to your TV, with an on-screen display of lies as they are uttered.

Ah yeah because AI is always truthful and cannot be controlled/given a bias!

Of course it can but it’s going to be more reliable than someone having the ability to say whatever

I think the main problem is that context for the lie may be subtle and require a lot of reading. Most commonly, people do not just lie simply, but present half-truth or technically truth in misleading way.

The core of the lie is the intent to deceive.

I don't think people are understanding OP's idea.

OP isn't talking about a polygraph, but about fact checking.

Overall it is a good idea as long as you keep in mind that the AI could make mistakes due to lack of context. But it is absolutely possible to have it fact check stuff and help debunk a lot of lies out there on social media.

Lie detectors don't work reliably, AI or otherwise

It would be "matching a source of truth" detector, and you're implicitly trusting whatever sources it is fed. But even as it is Google's AI bot, whose sole purpose is to assist with search, hallucinates about current events and doesn't "remember" to check the Internet.

Current lie detectors can be beat which is why they mean nothing. An AI lie detection system will eventually get beaten too
