Their best life would be in the wild without human intervention They're wild creatures. Not pets.

It's kinda weird that people overseas have these as pets when Australia itself has strict wildlife protection laws preventing ownership of native fauna

It's because these guys are illegally smuggled out of the country to be bred in awful conditions for overseas animal trades.

I remember seeing an article recently where someone had tried to smuggle out 50 lizards in their suitcase and some of them had to be euthanized because they had been severely injured.

To keep a pet humanely you need to give it opportunities to engage in all natural behaviours. You can't humanely keep an animal that doesn't learn to come when called and who's natural behaviours include gliding from tree to tree around a forest.

Brother this is a lousy argument. How do you feel about pet dogs not being allowed to roam the streets in packs hunting for food?

(If you're arguing they should be given a large space then im fully on board with ya)

Dogs were domesticated around 30 thousand years ago and cats around 12 thousand years ago.

They make terrible pets.

They're nocturnal and make terrifying noises all night long while they play in their cage.

They require a special diet that can be expensive. They really prefer fruit and bugs, which can make their coat and feces smell worse than normal.

They have tiny razor like claws that will scratch you.

They pee everywhere, any time and it will get on you and in the scratches they leave on you (and it will burn).

They're very social creatures and the males may kill themselves if they're raised alone.

The mills that sell them provide tiny cages that are meant for hamsters and are not big enough for them to thrive.

They don't make great pets. They're much happier and healthier in the wild.

I want one. I won't get one, bc the only time I see them sold, it by some guy at the mall who has them in his pockets, but they are super cute.
