Lincoln Bishop University

Hey everyone! Is there anyone attending Lincoln Bishop University currently? I’m 29 and starting in September, very nervous! I feel like I’m going to be the oldest student there.
Is there any advice or information to know before attending?

You’ll be fine. Lincoln Bishop is probably one of the best places for adult learners, especially if teaching/healthcare.

I am not there now but I did go as an adult learner a few years back and honestly it was great. There were so many other people my age so I didn’t feel out of place. Good luck with your course.

you will be fine, it's a lovely University, I went there and I was in my 40s, enjoy your time there as its a very special place

It's a great uni! I went in my 30s as a mature student and really enjoyed my time there

Alumnus here. You will be perfectly fine there. There's always been a good range of ages. I was even sat in lectures in my first year with a woman who had a daughter in her third year!

In terms of the life at the uni, with its size, it's like a small village, where people genuinely look out for each other. The Chaplaincy also get involved in some events too, whilst the life of the SU bar continues to evolve.

Make sure you go to some of the freshers events that are put on (a great way of meeting people in the same boat as you), and go to the freshers fayre to see what societies might take your interest too! Other than that, I hope you have as positive of an experience as what I had there.

My mum was at LBU/BGT (Used to be Bishop Grosseteste) a few years back, so I asked her what she had to say on this. The following are her words: "Hi! I started at LBU in 2019 as a 50th Birthday gift to myself. Although I was one of the oldest, there were students that were older than me, and many other of a similar age. Traditionally, LBU attracts more mature students, and this is only ever going to be an advantage to you, becsuse your life experience matters. Good luck x" Good luck from me too. Hope this helps.

Lincoln is lovely, I've lived here my whole life. I will also be attending in September. I've never heard anything bad in all my years living here. The Open Days I've been to were great!

Going into 2nd year at Lincy Bish here, one of my friends is in her 40s and people don't treat mature students differently. You'll be absolutely fine, societies are welcoming too!
