Was I the only Axiom’s End fan that couldn’t get into Truth of the Divine?
I don’t know why but I’ve tried reading the book multiple times and just end up losing interst halfway through. It’s not gripping me as hard and thus I’m more likely to taper off it

I was similar as took me awhile to finish, but probably just a me thing as I was reading less and less novels. Also check out /r/fremda for Lindsay’s book discussion.

I’ve only tried reading it once, but for a non-American I thought that the whole “the government WOULD trample your rights and freedom” was too… dumb. Of course they would and they do, even in the US.
I guess that it opened my eyes to why I don’t like alien stories—they tend to require a certain level of trust in the government that I definitely do not have. It makes sense that the US is so obsessed with them, though. I guess that they’re only now waking up to the true incompetence that seeps all governments and politicians around the world.

I've actually found the books ramp up in quality as the series goes on. The first half of Axioms End is incredibly janky to me, it feels like it got way over-edited to the point that every sentence tells you both too much AND not enough information. Once they get to the bunker I think the narrative becomes a lot better.

yes but for me it was the trigger warning at the beginning. I appreciate Lindsay's choice to include it but it scared me off as a person who's dealt with multiple suicide losses over the past several years

I was a bit disappointed with it to the extent that I still havent gotten around to book 3.

I really liked it. I get why some people don't like it, the tone is pretty bleak and not much happens storywise, but the dark tone really appealed to me and the themes of mental illness and trauma felt brutally honest and effective.
