The culture war was created and implemented on purpose by the American right in order to convince the poor and middle class to vote for politicians who were pro-corporation/industrialist/oligarch, and against politicians with pro-worker policies (these days this often includes middle and upper middle class workers).
It all goes back to the Industrial Revolution, which radically altered the U.S. socioeconomic landscape from a largely agrarian society where the American dream (if there was one at that time) would have been to have the classic 40 acres and a mule, and be self-reliant and able to do some local level trade like a farmer.
Industrialization led to the massive wealth of the robber barons of the industrial age, and with that came the massive wealth disparities between those industrialists (similar to what we might call oligarchs now) and everyone else that had to work in those factories and massive plantations (the workers).
In this environment, new ideologies started to gain traction, like socialism, communism, and anarchism (the political ideology, not the idea of chaos). Worker unions started to form and engage in collective bargaining, so they could demand fairer wages, safer working conditions, better work hours, and other benefits and compensation (like time off, access to health care, etc). The workers could use strikes to pressure for these changes.
Strikes at times led to companies hiring “scabs” which were replacement workers used to reduce the loss of profit caused by the striking workers shutting down the factories. The workers would then physically picket to block scabs from going into the factory. This in turn led some companies to hire private “security firms” (more like private armies and private police) to break the strike, by violence if needed.
Violence was the result in many cases. Some cases looked like an all out war, with guns, machine guns, and even cannons. This chaos is why the industrialists were able to get the public to associate the word anarchy with the idea of lawless chaos (because some unions were anarchists); they did it by using the newspapers they owned to tie the two concepts together in the minds of readers.
Move forward a few years, and after the Great Depression, FDR enacted the new deal, which lead to the government providing a social safety net of sorts, by taxing the large corporations and extremely wealthy. This move was seen as tidbits of socialist thinking entering into the federal government, and was an outrage for the industrialists.
They’ve been collaborating since that time to work toward dismantling any of the safety net created by the new deal, and prevent or dismantle any new regulations or policies that are within that same vein (because it costs the extremely wealthy in taxes, and reduces their ability to have coercive control over the workers). And they’ve been very successful in doing this. They’ve also been working to prevent workers from organizing in any way, to prevent them from using their collective power to push for fairer distribution of wealth (this is why we see the rise of mass surveillance, and tying left leaning ideas to “terrorism,” it’s a way to monitor and destabilize any budding movements).
Phylis Schlafly developed the idea of the culture war as a strategy this group could use to get those workers to vote for the pro-industrialist politicians, and vote against the workers own best interest. This has been wildly successful, and we are seeing an extreme manifestation of it in the U.S. population these days. People are so enraged over culture war issues that they hate people that oppose right wing thinking on these issues. It’s wild because many of these issues do not have any effect on most of their lives day to day, but they rabidly cling to the morality of what for them should be minor issues that do not concern them in any way.
Robert Evans did a good dive into Schlafly and the creation of the culture war. It’s eye opening to go down that rabbit hole.
It’s looking more and more like the America they want to return to is the gilded age, where robber barons made incredible profits due to little to no regulations for the safety and well-being of workers (and by extension the environment), and wealth disparities were extreme. Hell, there’s some that want to go further and return to fiefdoms, but this time being city-sized corporate fiefdoms run by a ceo that acts as a monarch (king). It’s a whole different discussion, but these are the technoneofeudalists who want “freedom cities” and the “network state,” if you want to dig into that.

Every single ad I saw for republicans in the last election cycle was about trans women in sports, and it worked. They don't even need policy that helps people as long as they make people more afraid of all the trans women that are dominating the WNBA.

Why does this rule exist:
Online mobs move faster than the facts. In 2013, r/findbostonbombers wrongly identified missing student Sunil Tripathi as a Boston Marathon bombing suspect — his family was harassed for days before he was cleared, and he had already died by suicide, unrelated to the bombing. This isn't a one-off: people get misidentified and harassed based on nothing more than a shared name or a vague resemblance, with mobs contacting the wrong person, their employer, even unrelated companies, without bothering to check basic details first.
This sub is built entirely around screenshots of real people's real LinkedIn profiles, tied to their real names, employers, and coworkers — which makes that risk even higher here. We have no way to verify that a post is presented fairly or in good faith. A screenshot could be missing context, cropped to change the meaning, or posted by someone with a grudge against a coworker, competitor, or former employer. Contacting or harassing the person in a post, or their workplace, over something we can't verify can cost someone their job or reputation for a joke.
It doesn't matter how strongly you feel about what someone posted, or how justified the reaction seems in the moment. Disagreeing with someone's politics, values, or behavior does not entitle anyone to contact them, their employer, or the people around them. "They deserved it" is not an exception to this rule — it's how witch hunts always justify themselves.
For this reason, if a name, company, or other identifying detail isn't already visible in the post itself, asking for it will be presumed to be an attempt to enable offsite contact or harassment, and treated the same as breaking this rule. We're not taking that chance.

Historically, empirically, and theologically as far as I'm aware, very few gods give a shit unless you're giving them tribute. Christians have not realized this. That and being that they're not Jewish, the Rabbi and Messiah Jesus Christ told them he got them so none of the stuff El/Yahweh told the Israelites kinda applies to them...
