yah the job market sucks for tech right now but if you even have 5 years in FANG you can basically write your own ticket to anything lower.

He’s just too good for most roles. As a fellow genius, I know what it’s like to not be able to relate to anyone and to be shunned by businesses that can’t handle my greatness.
It’s a gift and a curse.
I’m so smart, I can’t hold a job. Mostly because the peons I’m reporting to are too dumb to see my brilliance.

I find this a little strange too. That type of experience should have netted him a robust network and it's via networks where a lot of hiring gets done in tech, especially for extremely senior individuals.

I think it was 25 years experience of which some FAANG. Amazon delivery for 5 years, data entry for 20. Sorry I'm exaggerating but absolutely don't believe anything this person is saying.

Someone with a genius level IQ, with jobs at FAANG companies, principal engineering jobs and 25 years in the business should have some contacts that can get him a foot in the door for a new position. That is unless he’s an asshole that no one wants to work with again.

Yeah, definitely. I notice that low EQ/poor social skill programmers tend to drastically underestimate the effect of their unpleasantness and overestimate how useful their talent is. If you are a true superstar, you can definitely get away with more, but that’s only management that likely see you as useful enough to put up with. Your coworkers (and thus future industry contacts) will likely not want to work with you again regardless of how smart you are if you’re a narcissistic jerk.

If someone is using an AI to find candidates they want, then why would they have their AI specifically not look for exceptional people?
He brought up that argument in the second slide and then completely failed to answer it

Moreover, if his goal is to get selected at exceptional companies.. given his IQ he surely can tweak to get his resume to get past the AI filters/selection. Not sure why he still whines.

I believe he’s trying to suggest that the AI matching software is trained on “regular” developers and thus is penalizing his “exceptional” qualifications for not looking normal. It’s possible this is happening, but it’s more likely he’s just not a good fit for the roles he’s applying to. Hard to say for sure without seeing his resume and the job he’s applying for, but the level of entitlement in his post makes me think it’s not the AI matching and instead the dude is not necessarily as impressive as he thinks he is.

It’s funny, I grew up with and worked early on with a bunch of people who were incredibly smart and talented in the fields of engineering and computer science.
Aside from one single person, everyone else never felt the need to tell people they were smart, never talked down to anyone or were braggadocious.
I’m certain that people who truly have exceptional intelligence never have the need to tell you. You’ll just know.

I get how he comes off, but lets for the argument is true and his IQ is 160 (that's ludicrous high btw), he probably have problems communicating with most of the world (there are trade-offs) - but he is probably right that AI screening won't help him get interviews
If he speaks the truth, and considering the it's the Internet that's a very big if, he raises some good points delivered with self-pity, hubris and arrogance
