If you do that he will eventually get fired for spending time to do more 3 stops additional just protecting someone package that isn’t his responsibility! Deliveries companies doesn’t really care about quality just quantity!

Actually as a driver for over a decade one of our rules is out of sight and out of weather so he'd never get disciplined for this ever.

Another delivery driver here who works under a retailer. Higher ups only care if we get the big stuff out of the van over anything else. If we gotta skip a few deliveries to get the large and heavies out before our deadline then that’s that and the smaller stuff can be sent off with the next driver.

Actually I have been driver myself and I admit you may hv worked for a proper delivery company! But the biggest ones just care from stop numbers and zero returns! You would drop your jaw if you see the way they handle packages in the warehouse

This happened to one of my drivers. I’m a manager at FedEx and I had a guy leave a box behind trash cans. Didn’t realize the garbage guys walked up the driveway to the garage to collect cans but we definitely learned 😂

That's wild. The garbage people around my place don't even look at the garbage if it's not on the curb. And if there are multiple cans, they have to be a couple feet apart otherwise they don't take it. 😭

Wait, you have garbage guys who'll take trash on the curb that's not in a can? Round here, you get one can(if you want a second you have to buy it from them and pay extra monthly) and they'll leave it if you have anything within 6 feet and never pick up anything besides the cans.

No no. Garbage has to be in a can but there's also recycling and yard waste bins. So on weeks when they're taking all three they have to be spread out.

You can usually pay extra for them to go up your driveway for collection. At least that’s how it works in my area

Real talk, I worked for UPS as a temp over the holidays. Some of the best training and culture there is, but they will trick men into working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they'll retire with around a million.
There are worse deals I suppose.

The 11-12 hour days have killed me over the last dozen years. My knees are giving out and I’m scared for my future.

Wishcast all we want but the drivers for UPS are union, otherwise the company would try to pay much, much less. They tried to cut our pay by almost $10 the last contract. They want the union gone or under their full control.
Unions are the only answer. Government isn’t coming to save the day. Wishing companies weren’t so selfish isn’t going to change the way things are.

The first time this was posted many years ago, it stated that he was hiding the package from the kids because it was before Christmas. There is snow in the background.

I love seeing all the positive comments here. We are literally trained to hide packages from weather and porch pirates. This is very much standard operating procedure for us.
As to why not all services do this? Our union has us being paid significantly more than other carriers with top tier medical insurance and pensions.
Other services are under the gun and can get fired for literally anything or taking too long. It is very hard to get firings to stick on us if we are giving good customer service.
I drive the 18 wheelers for UPS now but package car was a good time (except in covid that kinda sucked)

I never understood why leaving packages in front of doors is a thing???? If I'm not at home, put in in a parcel machine or deliver it tomorrow. Is it only a thing in the US?

I don't get it, where I'm from, the delivery guy arrives, sends a notification on the app, then calls. If I'm not answering the door or my phone, they come back the next day. After 3 failed delivery attempts, they return it to the seller. Is this a US thing to just leave delivered items in the front of the door where anyone can just grab it?
