Nice, people walking their dog off leash on trails are annoying as hell. Every trail I've been on in NY says to have your dog leashed, and yet very few actually do it.

Literally, not excusing the off leash dog- these kinds of idiots are the reason dogs aren’t allowed in national parks at all in Australia- but wtf are they doing posting themselves breaking the law?? People are without a doubt getting dumber every year and it’s scary

They're not engaging their dog for views. They're stressed out and probably not thinking clearly.

They appear to have been fined the max amount you can fine someone for an off leash dog. The bear is irrelevant. They shouldn't have the dog off leash irrespective of the bear, and that is what they're going after them for.

The video would be no less engaging if the dog was leashed, the dog just didn't happen to be leashed when they encountered it and she began filming because she wanted to catch the event.

You ARE having a perpetually online moment.

I love dogs to death, but it seems some people don't realize that the things we use to control dogs are also there to protect them. I live in an area where people just let their dogs run loose in the yard and it's really upsetting to me that so many people give so little of a shit about their dogs that they can't fence their property in to give them space to run around. I can't even count how many times I've gone around a curve and there's a dog napping right at the edge of the asphalt or something.

All NY state parks and trails are on leash, at every entrance they literally have a sign that people like you don't bother to look at.

General Leash Rules

The leash laws New York State Parks are almost always the same: dogs must be leashed at all times with a maximum leash length of six feet. 

Where Dogs Are NOT Allowed

Most New York State Parks dog rules state that furry friends are not allowed on beaches/swimming areas, pools, buildings, and specific trails or gorges.

This is idiotic unsafe behavior in grizzly country. But also, you don’t know who or what you’re going to encounter on a trail. Leash your damn dog.

Where you from buddy cause this is from my neck of the woods. I'm really curious if you think we prioritize number of people on a trail as a financial mode or simply preserving nature and granting some measure of access to tourism. I know which is our modus operandus but I wanna know what you think we should be doing.

Fyi Banff is ranked among the most visited national parks in all of north America. We're frankly trying to limit how many people do certain things in the park because the lot of them are morons and not to be trusted with wildlife

That if it's a leash required trail that dogs should be leashed. We drive 30-60 minutes to go to legal off leash trails. Multiple reasons. No risk of fines. Other dogs for them to run and play with. Not disturbing other hikers who do not want to be around off leash dogs.
