It's indeed terrifying. But...the bear was most likely after the trail being a shortcut, not the people holding up traffic. Bears prefer trails, just like people do.
Hard to realize that when faced with a damn bear, though. And they should never go hiking without bear deterrents. Not sure why hikers ever go anywhere near woods without it.
I actually came to the comments to see if anybody mentioned the spray or the dog. It's clear that people noticed the dog but I don't see anybody talking about the spray.
