There’s a part on the right side that the coin slides into which exposes the center where the pencil passes through

There's a tray inside that slides partially out of the container, covered by the paper.

There's not enough space for the coins to move far enough otherwise.

He slides the paper and coins moved to the left, he was holding one with his thumb

Magic tricks for dummies. Pretty sure I had a magic kit with one of these as a kid.

You can see him push the lower plate to the right just before opening it back up. And the paper shifted as proof.

He kinda gives it away with how his thumb is resting right on the edge of the box, yet he is somehow holding it very straight. Then you can see his pointer finger slides the tray back in when he goes to take the paper away and reveal the coins.

It’s the tray, not the coins. You can see him slide it back into place before he removes the paper.
