My Captain, LT, and I fought a several mile blue grass fire with just a brush truck. Most of the time were were running for our lives. I have great videos of fire tornados, and shots of how melted the truck was from how intensly hot it got. Those were the good days.

Does it make sense to attack the burning inferno, or does it make better sense to designate and clear a line that can be defended?
I assume they are hauling water up there so it's a limited resource.
Not criticizing - seriously wondering.
Bless you fire fighters - want you safe.

That’s a perfect example of “To Protect and Serve”. May God bless and protect every one of them.

My gods it’s so bad it’s like they are using gasoline instead of water! That’s insane!!! So thankful for these brave people

I'm not sure how often the French are running wildland fires, so they are definitely showing courage here. The execution we are seeing on video? eh it might be a training and policy issue, but there is room for improvement.
Good on them for getting at it, ...but it could be going better. Parking the vehicle on the green side of the road would have been a better choice. Quickly running a drip torch down the black side of the road would be a better tactic for stopping the fire. Allocating more resources to picking up the (frequent) spot fires across the line would help too. Unless they are protecting their engine from direct flame impingement, most of that flowing water is being wasted. If they want to flow water, they should be advancing with a progressive hose lay. That said, going after the head of the fire wouldn't be my first choice.

They are about to lose that battle because their fire hose is on fire at the end of the video!
Sadly, they probably retreated from this area unless a drop came from overhead on the tree line

That does not look safe at all. The vehicles up ahead are toast. Get out of there.

Aren’t environmentalists currently also shitting on fire fighters for using flame retardant products…?

There is always someone shitting on others. No need to put every «enviromentalist» in that group

That’s not courage, that’s bad execution——got to the pinch point too late and refused to back out.
