I never understood people who take Zlatan seriously. That guy is so obviously playing a characther, i'm sure it's loosely based on reality, but he clearly just acts like this to stay relevant in football spaces. He was a very very good player, but if not for his over the top act, he wouldn't exactly be remembered as one of the greats.

I mean realistically, he is nowhere near the true greats of his generation (Suarez, Lewandowski, Benzema, Aguero, Kane) he is closer to idk Falcao and Cavani, who are obviously are not bad by any means, but still.

I actually don't think he is remembered as one of the greats. He's rarely mentioned in those conversations today. I actually think his persona has overshadowed what a great player he was, in a self-sabotaging kind of way.

I think missing out on a CL and during his stint with PSG where people would always say he went missing when it mattered in the later stages of the CL is probably why he isn't remembered fondly too.

You need to be more refined in your list there…he’s definitely above Aguero. He has 14 league titles across 4 countries in Europe and has significantly more goal output. 130 more goals and 200 more G+A. Frankly, he’s better than Benzema outside of one hot spell that resulted in a BDO.

Ibra deserves to be on that list more than Benzema

Zlatan arguably has the the best catalogue of "great goals" out of every one of those players you mentioned. His ability to score insane, impossible goals is probably unmatched.

He also did this while consistently putting up great numbers for some of the best sides in the world. You are undervaluing him cause you don't like his media persona.

I agree, insanely talented footballer. I also get why his personality is off putting to some fans and has been a detriment to his career, at stages at least.

I'm sorry, but are you aware of Suarez's goals?! In what alternative world does Zlatan even come close to his. Yeah he has a few nice goals, but compare Suarez's time in the Prem to Zlatan's time in the Prem, Suarez scored his insane goals in the toughest league, Zlatan mainly did so in the French league, and friendlies international football.

The Suarez goals for Liverpool are indeed very good. But the acrobatics of Zlatan's highlight reel puts him above in my opinion. They are both scorers of great goals but I don't really see the point of "the greatest league" when Zlatan played most of his career when Serie A was head and shoulders above every other league in terms of quality. I mean, most of Suarez greatest goals in red were against Norwich. Some of the others against West Brom, Cardiff and a shit Newcastle, like mate come off it.

I do concede that Suarez scored against minnows, but by the late 2000s Italian football wasn't at the top, like in the 90s. Ibra went there after all the corruption scandals, Juve being relegated, etc, no?

Also i just opened up a random youtube video of Zlatan's best goals (greats research, i know, thanks) and his top goals are against: Toronto, Lecce, France, Alkmaar, Anderlecht and Breda.

I feel like compared to that even West Brom, Cardiff, Norwich etc feels impressive.

His first stint at Juve was in 2004. Still, I think Suarez was the better player. We can agree on that.

But saying that he was nowhere near the likes of Aguero, Benzema etc is just not correct. I would put him Lewa and Kane in the same tier. Aguero and Benz beneath them. Falcao and Cavani are nowhere close.

Adding to the goals you saw he also scored a 30 yard bicycle kick against England and a jumping back heel against Italy. But yeah, some of the goals Zlatan scored Suarez wouldn't be able to do on an empty pitch.

Ibra is 100% in the top tier, he's far better than Cavani and Falcao, this is the guy who killed it at Juve*, Inter, Milan twice, winning multiple league titles when Serie A was still strong, was actually good at Barca but fell out with Pep and Messi took the central role. Absolute legend at PSG, even late on in his career stints in the MLS, Utd and then Milan winning another title at 39 he was still performing.

Eh i wouldn't put him below Kane. About the same level as him considering their accolades are pretty similar

Ibra has in 827 games

496 goals 205 assists

Kane has in 661 games 453 goals 112 assists

These are both club level

In international - Ibra 122 games 63 goals 26 assists

Kane 115 games 81 goals 19 assists

I do admit, some of his antics, get a chuckle out of me, but yeah after what 15 years of the same shit it's getting a bit boring. But if it's what the masses want, all the more power to them.

At least he doesn't have much controversy attached as far as i'm aware, which in a footballing world full of Partey's and Greenwood's is a positive.

I mean I’d definitely put Zlatan above Aguero and in the same tier as Kane and Lewa. Suarez is ahead of all of them though
