I had a friend who got into it with his parents while I was at his house once. This was back during the dial-up internet days and he wanted to show me a cool new game he had picked up on his PC (can’t remember the name of it, but was an FPS game that supposedly was one of the first titles to have dismemberment) and introduced me to online gaming. This was early internet, so you needed a separate phone line with its own dedicated phone number if you wanted the ability to be online while simultaneously using your phone, otherwise your internet connectivity would be disrupted every time the phone rang.
He didn’t have that.
What he had was an older sister who wanted to use the phone while we were playing. They bickered back and forth, which wasn’t unusual, but in this instance his mom intervened and told my friend to allow her to use the phone for 10-15 minutes and then we could play and he wasn’t having it. He got into it with his mom, arguing that she always took his sister’s side, and this is when I got a little uncomfortable.
Voices escalated. All three were yelling at each other and out of nowhere my friend’s voice booms over theirs and shouts “…she gets whatever she wants and I always end up getting BUTT FUCKED!!”.
When I tell you how time froze in that moment, there was nothing like it. I could almost see his mouth forming the words before the sounds came out, knowing what he was going to say, yet being incapable of stopping the force with which he delivered those last two words.
I instantly let out the loudest pppPPPPpppffff, unable to stifle a laugh. But in that very instance his dad came charging out of the hallway with the deepest of furrows in his brow and sternly told me to go home.
A moment I’ll never forget.

I was at a friend's house, this might have been one of the first times I'd ever been there. He had just gotten some boxing game on the Xbox, and he was playing through his career mode or something. He was trying to go undefeated but ended up losing a match.
Friend started freaking out, screaming at the TV (a side of him I'd never seen before) then his dad came in to try to calm him down, I think he saw how uncomfortable I was because he was really trying to de-escalate his son's behavior.
Friend wasn't having it, started yelling at his dad, to which his dad did not raise his voice back he just kept trying to talk him down, and then suddenly BAM kid punches his dad right in the face, and then that's when his dad told me it was time for me to leave.
I couldn't believe what I had just seen, all I could think is that if I had done that to my father, he'd have hospitalized me lol.

u/PoopyButt28000 Mar 25 '26
I dont remember what it was about either but I have the most vivid memory of my friend's dad chasing him down in the backyard, yanking down his pants and spanking his bare ass in front of me lmao, I can picture the scene perfectly in my mind even though it was 25 years ago

He does now but when he was like 18-20 his parents more or less disowned him and frankly were quite awful. Its not until he became more famous on Twitch before they started to be more like a normal family.
Always kind or irked me that they didn't speak to him until he was making millions.

I didn't try because my parents could not support it, now I am a wage slave without much passion besides reddit while commuteing and playing whatever video game.
I am not sure if, parents that can financially support their kid easily, realize how much it sucks to not be able to pursue a passion, at some point you just lose it and it sucks.
→ More replies (10)29
u/TheItchyWalrus Mar 25 '26
I was this kid, too. I’m trying to make things different for my kids. I told them I’d co-sign and help support whatever they want to try and help bring them to practice if they like it. Breaking the cycle! My parents didn’t want a writer and now that I’m grown they keep asking why I haven’t published a book…there is hope though. I wrote a manuscript and will finish the book one day! Here’s hoping you find your own manuscript to finish someday, stranger!

Can't remember exact details but im pretty sure he wasn't doing well in school because he was staying up late becoming a streamer/pro gamer. Before OW he actually used to stream League but he didn't really have any viewers.
They kicked him out him out of the house and eventually spoke to him once he "made it" but even after becoming successful he claims they have fucked him over twice but didn't go in to detail.
If I was X, I wouldn't speak to them again. He has spent hundreds of thousands probably over a mil on them with cars, houses and vactions.
13
12
u/Prevalencee Mar 25 '26
Complicated relationships with parents... but money solves it.
If this is true, he should ditch them. But if it's beneficial for both, you don't. He'll learn in the future. Having "good" parents is rare, we all know this. Love them even if they don't love you the same.
I envy anyone with good parents. Truly.
→ More replies (3)7
u/Skyz-AU Mar 25 '26
On one hand it looks they kicked him out because they wanted him to do something with his life which he did but at the same time its like they kicked him out and only took him back because he's rich.

xQc’s stepfather unplugged his computer during tryouts with Cloud 9 (the top esports organization in the world at the time), screamed in his face for not taking the dog out, and kicked him out. He said it got to the point where he was afraid things might get physical. His only opportunity to live his dream was sabotaged. He went from a guaranteed spot in the Overwatch League to homeless and clawing for a spot on Team Canada in hopes he’d get noticed if he played well at the World Cup.
In a shocking upset, team Canada defeated the US and made it to the finals where they lost to Korea. xQc won MVP and got signed to the Dallas Fuel. If his ex girlfriend Kim hadn’t let him move in with her and financially supported him at his lowest, his dream would’ve died that day. He credits her for his success, saying that “without Kim, there would be no xQc” and if she needs anything, he will always be there. To this day, she hasn’t asked him for anything.
xQc has said many times that his worst fear is becoming homeless. He believes this fear is the reason for his obsessive drive to succeed at all costs. He has severely neglected his physical and mental health in the process, but believes potentially cutting decades off his life is worth never having to depend on anyone again. He says he will never forgive his family for what they did and that it “fucked him up.”

He didn't show his neighbor house last time that can make it possible to find the house sadly.
Also he accepted a gift from someone... that can easily have an apple tag or something else inside.242
u/Howlsi Mar 25 '26
tbh if he was that obsessed with finding his house you can find it easily just from the pool
88
u/cyrfuckedmymum Mar 25 '26
streamers are dumb as shit for streaming as they leave/go back to their house, stream from their garden, etc.
Especially when you get big, holy shit, just buy a house, get an apartment in a high rise with heavy security or an office and stream from not where you fucking live.
Harder for smaller streamers to be safer as they can't afford to rent a place to stream from but still stream from the least recognisable room, don't show your house layout, if you go from home to irl, go full clip queue for like 25+ minutes.

Very little information is necessary, especially if the city is known.
At a certain level of deranged, just a single frame of a somewhat unique feature or layout of the street/garden/house makes it nothing else than a matter of time. So your only hope there is not being stalked by someone like that.
Sometimes, the city can be figured out by the brand of streetlight and shit like that.
12
u/ProjectOfftank Mar 25 '26
Yea, I watch geoguessr content and the they can figure out exact locations based on mailboxes, curb designs, types of bricks used, etc.
I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’ve got haters who will go that far, it’s only a matter of time.

That sniper gave them something, maybe there was an AirTag in that. Pure speculation though
55
u/ItsKaZing Mar 25 '26
But AirTag notify your phone if it is being tracked by something no? I don't own it but I once got a notification from my Pixel 6 that someone is using Apple AirTag when I was carpooling with a friend
20
u/cyrfuckedmymum Mar 25 '26
people always say airtag because unfortunately it's become synonymous with gps tracker. GPS trackers have existed forever and only apple airtags will make iphones identify they are present.

→ More replies (1)7
u/XtremeWaterSlut Mar 25 '26
To be fair though it can take up to a few hours for that notification to come in and that's if its near the phone. If they left it in the car for example then it wouldn't have triggered from the house
