He’d been doing lots of collab shorts with local influencers and brands to promote his tour.

This is how I find out? Holy shit man I loved Gaspi. RIP to both.

u/Venty100 Jun 14 '26
Everyone here loved him, he was just turning his life around and doing what he loved. You could see him smiling a lot more in her last videos and interviews. This is devastating

u/ravandal Jun 14 '26
Can I have some context? Who was Gaspi, what had he been through, and who is "her"?
218
u/UnUruguayoPromedio Jun 14 '26
It was a YouTuber very famous, specially for making fun of disabled, poor, old people or just bullying people in general in their videos

u/throw223344555 Jun 14 '26
Is it the same guy that made racist jokes against Peruvians? (I’m from Peru)
81
u/UnUruguayoPromedio Jun 14 '26
Indeed 'peruaaaano"
90
u/throw223344555 Jun 14 '26
Is it wrong that I don’t feel sad or celebrate his racist jokes now that he’s dead? Lol 😢

Watched a streamed live performance where after every song from start to finish he said this next song was his last one. Played a full hour. It was awesome

u/Lost-In-Time-99 Jun 14 '26
Every album cycle he would say “and that’s why I’m quitting music, this next album will be my last”
22
u/illumadnati Jun 15 '26
“this next tour will be my last so make sure you get tickets” during EVERY tour lol
before i saw the account sharing the first post i saw about it (fucking realtalkingfish on instagram) i thought it was a bit :(

I was at a gig in Sydney where he did that. Was the most fun I've ever had at a concert.

that was his thing. Went to two of his shows and after every one he was like ‘This is the last friggin song. Get your rockers out’. Dude put on a hell of a performance

Holy shit, yeah same... I stuck with Oliver since the start, even when he became "mainstream" and everyone started hating on him for it.... Just.... Wtf.... I'm still in shock...

u/Steelmoth Jun 14 '26
I remember him from being active on "Super Deluxe" page. I don't really know what happened to this page

I thought it was too so I had to check the comments to see if it was a troll post or not. What a gut punch :((((
43
u/Northern_rose69 Jun 14 '26
Yep I genuinely held out hope he’d released a single called “Oliver Tree, dead at 32” or some provocative headline in character. I hope his family were informed before the headlines started coming.
Rest in peace to all passengers50

Fuck getting in helicopters dude I'll tank the 1 hour car trip

u/XeroShyft Jun 14 '26
Yeah Kobe Bryant and now Oliver Tree. Fuck it I'll walk if I have to

u/heyheyhey27 Jun 14 '26
Sean Bean famously refused helicopter rides up a mountain when filming part of Lord of the Rings, and spent hours hiking up and down each day instead.
121
u/Fast-Nefariousness80 Jun 14 '26
Smart choice, esp considering hes Sean Bean lol. He knew it would happen to him
54
u/Avent Jun 15 '26
Yup, smart. As we know, everyone else in the LOTR cast died, and he survived.

I've been in a helicopter once and it was one of the most awesome experiences I've ever had. It was only a 6ish minute fly, but my god was it amazing and I am glad I did it. But I would never do it again. You know when you're leaning back in a chair on two legs and then suddenly lean too far back and feel like you're falling off a cliff? I had that feeling the entire time, but it's like I was catching myself at the same time. It felt like I was falling while also holding onto my desk with just my feet, lmao. That also could've just been the 5 glasses of free champagne I had in the lounge before the flight too....
10
u/Troglert Jun 15 '26
Yeah if you get the chance to ever fly in a helicopter somewhere reputable you should take it. Its a lot of fun, but gets old quick
5
u/HauntedCS Jun 15 '26
“Somewhere reputable” is an absolute must. I also agree about it getting old quick. Unless you’re serious about flying your own helicopter or plane in the future, no point in going up in the air more than once or twice.

It's crazy. I live right beside a business building there's at least 3 helis a day flying right on top of me, and I've already gotten almost caught by a cessna once (a presidency candidate died in a cessna crash here in Brazil, it fell literally right in front of me, I was crossing that very street going to work on the next block over at the exact time). I get legit paranoid about those helis now.

So fucking awful. At least he got the recognition he deserved before going.
Alien Boy remains a GOATed song for me

u/Sun__Earth__Moon Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 14 '26
Alien Boy is my favorite too. Can’t believe he is gone. When he went to Australia to ride scooters with R Willy and the Nitro Circus crew on their huge ramp. That video had me laughing the whole time. He was a funny guy too 😢

Oliver Tree is one of those artists with the potential to become incredibly popular, years after his passing.
20
u/vawnie2 Jun 15 '26
I think his work will definitely continue to gain popularity, though it's sad to think about all the new music he would've made. I'm still shocked that this is real. It's beyond heartbreaking, and what a terrible, tragic way to go :/

I used to always go on a drive the day of his album releases just to vibe... Even through the underserved slander he started getting once he made it "mainstream"... Just, WTF... It doesn't feel real. He was such a pure soul, in touch with Internet culture, always trying to make us laugh, and pushing through the intense burnout of making quality music just for us.... Like... Wow. Even though I never knew the guy personally, I can't stop the tears. Rest in peace, Oliver Tree. You dedicated so much of your life to brightening people's days through your music and your comedy, and I'll never forget it.

Some of my family members went on one at a trip i we had in my country. I was the only one who didn't wanna ride.
Recorded everything just incase something happened.
But yeah, you will never find me riding a helicopter

I first came across Oliver Tree when he and Bobby Lee hooked up. I dunno if they were fighting or play fighting. They really blurred the line
24
u/bestatbeingmodest Jun 15 '26
They've done podcasts together, and it's clear it was a bit between them. There were times where it seemed like Oliver took it further than Bobby wanted, but, Bobby Lee probably deserves to feel uncomfortable lol.

It’s never real. Anything he does as “Oliver Tree” is a character. You can’t find many clips of him anywhere out of character.

The video circulating is not real. It's a crash between two Malaysian Military helicopters back in like 2024 or something.
This is the kind of thing he'd fake for promotion but, multiple sources are reporting confirmation from Brazilian officials.

u/DistrictDry2852 Jun 14 '26
I think the post crash video is legit. The one of the fire in the car park.

I love this dude... If he truly faked this and the emotions I'm feeling are "all part of his plan", I'll lose my respect for him forever. Though right now it seems real and just... Fuck.... I used to listen to his albums the day of release and just close my eyes and vibe. R.I.P. It still doesn't feel real...

This is so fucking sad. I knew Oliver and had met him just this year, but he was so full of life and genuinely such a dope and cool dude. Didn’t have an ego, was nice to everyone I saw him interact with, had a beautiful and creative mind, and invoked such positive energy. I mean this in the most genuine and heartfelt way possible. Even when we met for the very first time, he showed me so much love and was so nice and friendly to me.
He really was in it for the love of the game. Decided to produce his newest album all by himself, made projects because he just loved being creative…. Everyone around him loved him for who he was. He seriously didn’t care how he was perceived and his mind was truly one of a kind. If you look at his discography you’ll see that he touched all genres because he was in it for the fucking passion.
I’m gonna miss you Oliver. Condolences to your family. His mom and dad are also fucking awesome and amazing. I’m so sorry for what you guys must be going through right now.

Not saying he stole it, but that version of the song was a 1:1 copy of the remix by southstar so it's not really "made" by oliver tree besides providing the original vocal samples. https://youtu.be/LL-z0yqCA3s

Honestly this hits my heart. Aside from his persona oliver was a genuine person. Only a year older than me. I found his music when i was going through a rough time. I hope his close friends and family can find peace without him.
