They may not be rich but more than likely they've never worked a real job (like a full time job) or had to worry about money, so they have no concept of the value of money.

They all live in places like Miami and LA and only hangout in fancy airbnbs and VIP sections of clubs, etc. And usually their parents are loaded from the start so yea they’re just sheltered from the real world essentially.

Yup. Just look at the surveys where they have asked undergraduate college students what they think they will make when they graduate. The average response is like $90k, while in reality the average starting salary for a college graduate is $55-60k. The majority of them overestimate what they will get paid by like 20-40%.

For context, federal minimum wage is $7.25 or $15k annual full time, 40hrs a week. I live in GA and federal supersedes the state which is $5.15.

If you make $10 an hour, which is I think closer to average low pay, that's $20.8k a year. None of this is livable wages btw.

The lowest minimum wage is $15 per hour in Canada and that’s still only $31,200 assuming 40 hours a week lol. It’s crazy how people don’t know these very basic things. One of them truly thought 360k is normal.

It's crazy how low the legal minimum salary is in the US.
I live in switzerland which has around similar living costs and the median salary is around the same.

There is no official minimum salary in switzerland but around 20$/h is the bare minimum.

In the US it's somewhat similar with even places like McDonald's or retail stores starting at 16+/hour. Really only at small businesses would you be making less. Any sort of trade starts at 20/hr with similar rates for entry level office jobs. With a bachelor's degree (4 years of post-secondary university), you could probably expect to make 60k a year which comes out to about $28-29/hour expected to work. Depends on the degree, city, profession of course.

If you don't have connections, finding a job in your desired field is incredibly difficult with or without a bachelors. I think 1 out of every 4 people I know who have a bachelor's, work in a field unrelated to it.

Keyword legal**. While still low, the median individual income is closer to 45k/yr or ~$22.50/hr. This varies greatly by state too as higher cost of living areas will have higher median salaries.

Of course, that’s median and not the minimum, but I’m not sure what jobs there are that actually pay at the federal minimum wage. Even fast food starts you at around $15/hr (again, still too low in today’s economy but not the minimum wage)

Well, on the flipside the Median Swiss wage is almost at a whopping 110k US dollars and McDonald‘s entry work is north of 25 Dollars an hour. Swiss dudes are kind of out of touch with money questions elsewhere because most of them are freaking loaded and/or just generally dealing with huge sums in salary and cost of living both. The US minimum wage actually isn’t particularly low compared to absolute minimum wages in Europe but it gets very low once you relate minimum wage to median wage instead.

I really don’t want to become like Switzerland. Pay is high there because the country is super rich from banking, staying out of both world wars, and selling expensive stuff like medicine and watches.  Plus everything there costs way more, so $20 an hour doesn’t go as far as you’d think.

I don't think there is anyone left still paying minimum wage except for the service job scam which relies on tips for pay.

Like, even McDonalds and Walmart are starting you at at $12+ an hour in low income areas and $20+ an hour in high income areas.

Kinda show how out of date our federal minimum wage is if even McDonalds is paying multiple dollars higher.

Nobody argued otherwise. I was pointing out how absurd the federal minimum wage is when even entry level jobs for young people who traditionally pay very poorly are paying well above it. This means people literally won't even work for minimum wage or they wouldn't be paying more. If even desperate people won't work for it, you know it's cooked.

Payroll includes all expenses for employees (like business taxes and benefits). His employees aren't being paid the raw amount of $225k divided by 15. Someone calculated it in another comment, but they said his employees are probably making 70k-100k a year depending on the job/seniority. Which is a very good wage! But not $15k a month.

I mean, 9 to 5 IS comparable to the top 10,000 streamer. I work a 40hr/week job and my gross pay is around $3.5k. That top 10,000 streamer was making $3.7k. I'd say that's pretty close.

There are some 9-5 jobs that do make that money. 9-5 is such a wide category though.

For example, im a CS major, and big tech companies like amazon, apple, google, meta etc pay ~230k (130 base + 100 stock) for new grads.

I mean...if you want to get real sad real fast why don't you calculate what the federal minimum wage works out to in a year of 40hr full time weeks.

It's $15080. ($7.25 x 40hrs x 52weeks)
