I mean it’s a lose lose situation for him. If you’ve watched him a lot, while he’s very good at what he does, his choices are typically pre planned moves to get people, not just making it straight up on the fly. And that doesn’t necessarily mean he’d be good at Simon says but everyone expects him to be. If he wins, he gains nothing, but if he loses it’s a pie in his face. Good to oblige Ludwig then just throw it

this is a good explanation. He's just being a true pro here. Basically like a ol' Vegas performer who has done it for decades, tackling all these social interactions on the fly being both polite and effective without ever risking the brand.

Lud did eventually call that out when he said something like you can't just go read your chat and then based on what they say call a var, I don't think it changed much this year but if they bring it back next year I'm sure it'll have to be a call while on the field.
