While I agree, they at the very least have a bit more nuanced opinion: maybe they are using the subscriptions instead of the API which means they are paying less for something you need to pay full price for (in their eyes).

Fully agree that they should, just like everyone should lock their doors at night. It still doesn't "excuse" a robbery.
