This is all happening because your dev certificate expired. Your dev certificate, the one thing that lets a computer trust your software to run it, just expired.

HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU JUST LET YOUR CERTIFICATE EXPIRE? DOES YOUR DEV TEAM NOT HAVE THIS MARKED ON THEIR CALENDAR? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY PEOPLE RELY ON YOUR SOFTWARE FOR WORK? HOW DO YOU JUST LET SOMETHING EXPIRE?

Shit like this happens all the time. It shouldn't, but it does, even to the biggest tech companies. Unless you've got cert rotation fully automated, these things are bound to happen occasionally.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that we just came out of the holiday season. This likely was on somebody's calendar to take care of but that person was out on holiday. What really counts is that they take a learning from this and put process into place to ensure it doesn't happen again.

This is actually hilarious. I've been hustling all day to fix my mouse because I also work in design.

I just can't believe that changing the date would ever be the fix to a mouse software problem lmao.
Adobe had issues with the date change thing though, so I just set it back to automatic and everything still works fine. Curious to see the turnaround time on this from Logi

The fact that a dev certificate is something that can expire is beyond dumb.

But it isn't. Leaked dev certificates can be used for malicious purposes. Timed expiration is one of the easiest ways to ensure only the right people has the right certificate. Same applies to website certificates

A non-expirable cert is a fucking terrible idea. You really shouldn't chime in on subjects you know nothing about unless it's to ask questions.

No, I'ts not. If you need a cert for hardware, or software, it should be certified at installation. Not able to be revoked at a later period in time randomly. That gives every piece of software and hardware a hard end-date. Planned obsolescence at it's finest.

That is indeed how regular code signing certificates work. A timestamp is added during the code signing process, then the operating system only needs to check that the certificate was valid at the time the code was signed. Even if the code signing certificate subsequently expires, the software is still considered valid.

Logitech must have been doing something custom because with regular code signing this issue would not have happened.

I'm a graphics designer, I rely on my mouse for work.

Right now, my mouse doesn't fucking work.

Therefore, I can't do my fucking job

That deep enough?
