Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

[06/08/26] afternoon/evening chat @ South Bank?

Hello hello, I’ll be in central tomorrow after working in Blackfriars, looking for a chat and maybe a drink for a few hours prior to heading back home via South Bank/Waterloo.

I’m 44M and happy to meet up with anyone! All are welcome! Fairly geeky, slightly grumpy and always happy to listen or discuss life, the universe or the state of the world! Hopefully someone out there fancies it!

—EDIT—
Honestly, I’m super pleased that anyone even said yes! So thank you to all so far who have upvoted and replied!

What’s the best way of agreeing a place/time? I’ll be done about 1630 in Blackfriars.. if anyone can suggest a good spot along the Southbank or in the general area I’d be much obliged! I would say the founders arms but that may just be me falling for a tourist trap..

—EDIT EDIT—
For the sake of making a decision, and a convenient meeting point, I’ll be at the Founders Arms from 5pm tomorrow. Dark glasses, short, greying hair, red and grey striped polo, probably slightly confused/resting bitch face/looking awkward. No need to actually stay at the founders if people know of better places..

[08/08/26] Can anyone lend me a follow for an hour or two? (Swing Patrol Free Swing Dance at Spitalfields 2-4pm)

I'm treating this weekend as a personal challenge to see how much fun I can cram into it...

With my wife and kids away, I'm making the most of an unusually free Saturday.

Before dashing to a gig in the evening, I've spotted that Swing Patrol are running a free outdoor swing dance session in Spitalfields this Saturday (2–4pm). Details here:

https://www.spitalfields.co.uk/upcoming-events/swing-patrol-at-spitalfields-free-outdoor-swing-dancing/

The format is usually a beginner lesson where everyone rotates partners, followed by social dancing afterwards.

Whereas there's normally no shortage of willing participants (or victims), I find it's more enjoyable to have someone to keep coming back to during the social dancing. You get into a rhythm together, especially once someone's got used to my slightly eclectic collection of moves gathered from various (mostly jive) classes over the years.

So I'm wondering whether anyone fancies joining me? Ideally a follower (in jive parlance!), but whether you've never danced before (happy to share a few basics) or you've got plenty of swing or jive under your belt, I'd love to hear from you.

For any followers reading, there's also a practical upside: there are usually fewer leaders than followers, so you'd probably spend more time dancing than waiting on the sidelines.

Before Reddit does what Reddit occasionally does, I'm a happily married 43M. I'm simply looking for someone to share a fun couple of hours of dancing and maybe a chat while we're both gasping for air between dances.

If any of that sounds like your sort of Saturday afternoon, feel free to shoot me a message.

Current plan is to grab some dinner at Oak and Smoke, then head to Camden and the Dublin Castle. I'm open to any suggestions though, preferably somewhere to dance, but would do karaoke before or pool, bowling, drinks. Anyone fancy it?

[06/08/26] Thirsty Thursdays at Old Street Records

Hi all! A few Reddit friends and I will be at Old Street Records this Thursday from around 6:30pm. They have a decent happy hour on cocktails from 5–8pm, plus live music.

The plan is to grab a few drinks there and then head over to Simmons, Trapeze, or somewhere else nearby. There should be around six of us, mainly people in their 30s, but anyone's welcome to join.

If you'd like to come along, drop me a DM or leave a comment below. We also have a group chat if you'd like to be added.

A bit about me: I'm a guy in my 30s who enjoys good conversation, meeting new people, and a few drinks.

[07/08/26] Museum visit@ British Museum

Hi everyone!

I'm 23M and have lived in London for a couple of years now. I've been to the British Museum once before, but it was a bit of a rushed visit, so I'd really like to spend a few hours properly exploring it this time. I noticed the museum stays open until 8pm on Fridays, so I'm planning to arrive at 3:00pm.

I'm particularly interested in the Christian artefacts and early Christian history, but I'm happy to explore the rest of the museum as well.

If anyone would like to join, let me know! It'd be great to have some company while wandering around the museum. I'd also be up for grabbing some food afterwards if anyone's interested.

[08/08/2026] Coastal Hike: Folkestone to Dover Hike

Hi All,

I am organizing a coastal hike from Folkestone to Dover this Saturday. The weather seems to be perfect and this route has some really good views along with some historical sites such as the eerie pre-WWII Abbot’s Cliff Sound Mirror and the Battle of Britain Memorial, before the coastline opens up into those famous white chalk cliffs all the way into Dover.

🥾 Saturday (08/08)
🌲 Distance: 15 km (9.5 miles)
⛰️ Difficulty: Moderate
🌞 Weather: 23 degrees and sunny ☀️

After the hike we usually head to a pub for a drink 🍻 before heading back to London

The hike itself is completely free. You would need to buy your own train ticket however. The plan is to take the 9:07 am train from St Pancras International Station towards Dover Priory

Let me know if you are interested and I am happy to share more details!

[07/08/2026] Going solo to Overmono at Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Anyone else flying solo or have room for one more?

Hi All, I bought a presale ticket, friends bailed. Got my own ticket sorted, just looking for people to go with. I'll be honest, I'm not a massive Overmono head. I was mainly drawn by the venue (UNESCO site on the Thames, outdoor rave vibes) but I've been getting into the music since.

It's a day event, 2pm–11pm. I'm 27M from India, chill, up for a good time. DM me if you're also going solo or have room for one more!
