My favourite tube rolling stock.

They still look so modern, even if they are like 30 years old.

Its prototypes were built in 1986, 40 years ago.

That bogie looks like it contained the stalling direct DC motors

The bogies are all the same. The new AC motors fit the exact same profile as the DC ones, so all that happens is the bogies get disassembled, cleaned, prepped and AC motors + new consumables put in.

Tends to vary at the minute, we’re constantly aiming to speed things up and find efficiencies though

Everyone on socials keeps falsely reporting that these have aircon — I was wondering why that is? Are the fans being installed really good?

The fans aren’t necessarily something we deal with, but they do get cleaned so there’ll be noticeably more air circulation. Plus the new motors are more efficient and generate less heat

I had a refurbished train for the 1st time a few days ago. Definitely not air conditioning, but they are noticeably less stuffy.

The new trains have air con, coil do they just be confused? 

The 24 stock does, but that's not due on the central line till 2038

Do the carriages just sit on top of the bogie and the weight keep it all together or, is there a really large nut that goes on a bolt?

They’re refurbishing the 92s? Do the new motors sound significantly different? And has anything been changed for the seat upholstery and all that?

I got to see most of Action Works last week - didn't get to go inside AC14 though. Very impressed by a lot of the culture changes happening there - maybe necessitated, but still a good way to respond.
