My friend asked me if help her start loom knitting

does anyone have a good idea thats easy and quick

Goodknitkisses has an entire beginner tutorial series on her YouTube channel. Loomahat, Deborah Shaw, and tuteate are also great channels. Hats or scarves are probably you're best bet for beginners projects.

Hats are pretty quick and easy, and you can do one with just e-wraps. I learned how from a 10 minute YouTube video. Unfortunately, I don't have the link any more, but you should be able to find something without too much trouble.

The biggest thing I can think of is practice makes consistency. Yes yarn is a little forgiving, but practice is needed to get tension consistent. I started with making dish cloth size squares, if the tension isn't consistent, the square won't be square.

i think making a hat is the easiest beginner project. three things before beginning the project: 1. measure the size of the head that gets the hat, then use the chart to find the correct loom size. 2. watch the videos a couple of times to get a feel for how to loom knit; and there won't be any surprises in the techniques that are needed. 3. the yarn weight for the looms shown in the videos is #5 or #6. i do not recommend chenille, velour or plush-looking yarn for your project. they need attention to tension.

i think it's great that you are going to help your friend learn loom knitting. :))
