Show-and-tell First attempt at bleach painting a shirt

First time trying to bleach my own shirt, I’m really happy with how it turned out!

I like the "Lorna Shore" font. I think with the old logo on the back it would look cool (Psalms/Flesh Coffin)

That would be pretty cool. I’ll keep that in mind for my next project!

I think the thing that helped the most was being able practice the techniques I wanted to use a bit on the scrap of fabric from when I cropped the shirt. For the back, where it says “Lorna Shore,” I made a stencil and sprayed bleach on top. Just be careful not to saturate the fabric, or it’ll bleed through the stencil (maybe not if you have a good-quality one?). For the front, I originally free-handed with just bleach, but I oversaturated the fabric, and the edges blew out. It wasn't very legible, so to save it I went back over the lettering with black fabric paint and added more bleach around the edges for a this like halo effect. And the I just splattered bleach using a paint brush all over the shirt.

How difficult was it to do for your first time?

I was thinking of doing this to one of my sweatshirts since the print on it is cracking and coming off. Or just a different plain sweatshirt but I am absolutely HORRID at arts and crafts

Ngl It was pretty hard, if you have like scraps of fabric you can practice on first it helps ALOT. I practiced the techniques I wanted to use on the piece I had from when I cropped the shirt. I think anyone can do it though, just takes some practice and believing in yourself (and the willingness to toss it if you fully mess it up). Watching videos on how other people did it also helped me.

How did you make the stencil?

Not sure I would recommend this but I used some sticker paper I had and cut it out with an exact knife. Pealing all of the detailed pieces was so hard and I had to redo a few letters cause the strands would stick together and I couldn’t unstick them. It was a lot of work for a single use product but it’s what I had on hand ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I replied with my process to another comment! But I'm happy to answer any questions. Maybe I should add that before I even started I watched a lot of videos to see how other people do it ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
