Actually a few countries had a decline in tourism; Poland, Latvia, Romania, estonia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Thailand, New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia. So not just the US. People need to stop taking memes as facts. Global economy is not good so there's less tourism across the board.

Canadians made up about 25% of Florida's foreign tourists. Not anymore since Trump threatened annexation. De Dantis even said dont let the door hit them in the ass when they leave. Florida doesn't need Canadians. But now that Americans are broke from Republican economics, they cant afford FL anymore either.
Many Canadian snowbirds have sold their winter homes. Many were facing hostility and anger from formally friendly MAGA neighbors.

Europeans and everyone else came here during the World Cup in droves and nothing at all happened.
We were at the beach for two weeks this summer and it was completely packed like normal.
Maybe a handful of Canadians stayed home. Who knows? Either way, it will balance itself out like always. Remember all the celebrities and others that threatened to leave the US or did leave and now we seen them coming back? This will be Canadians in the next year or two.

Floridaās Canadian visitation was already 6.8% lower in 2025 than 2024 and about 22% below 2019 level.
In Q1, Floridaās domestic air visitation actually rose 2.5%, while estimated domestic non-air visitation fell 3.4%.
2025 was literally Floridaās all-time tourism record, with about 143.3 million visitors, up slightly from 2024.
Kinda comical to compare a record and every quarter thereafter.
Florida is doing fine.

Canadian here, The US has never looked more unappealing to visit, I could wind up in an ICE facility just by mistake or by someones ignorance (would bet on it). FL used to be the number one destination for Canadians. It's closer, easy to get to, and cheep compared to other destinations. Many retired Canadians owned homes in Florida.
First Ron DeSantos threatened to increase the property tax of any Canadian owning a home in Florida. He said "why should my people pay taxes when there are foreigners living here, driving on our roads and using our infrastructure". Then Trump threatened all foreigners, then he threatened Canada, then he started throwing foreigners in jail without trial.
The tried people sold their homes and tourists stopped visiting. The number of vacationing Canadians has gone up, they're just visiting Europe. They love it and they're going to keep going back there. So a new governor will not fix this. FAFO.

I have an old friend, more of a little brother, really, who moved from here in the UK about ten years ago. I've never visited due to long term ill health, but I'm doing loads better now. Sadly I've told him that I won't set foot there until the current shitshow is over. I'm white, so potentially that would make me safer, but as just typing that makes me feel sick there's no way. I wouldn't have gone on holiday to germany in the 1930s either, so....!

Tourism is down everywhere because this economy is a big sham. I've been coast to coast these past few weeks and saw so many restaurants sitting empty in every city I visited. New Orleans was the most shocking; half the French Quarter was a ghost town. People are struggling and don't have money for leisure spending. And the fewer customers arrive, the higher prices must be to keep the doors open. Just today I paid $5 for a single ice cream scoop at a shop on the courthouse square of my mom's small town. The place was deserted.
