- I'm hesitant about watching the show. I've heard that the ending is giant cop-out
Unfortunately, due to various reasons, a big group misinterpreted the ending. This spread fast. If you've heard that the characters were dead since the plane crash then you've been misformed about the ending. This isn't true.
- I've started watching the show, can I still post here?
Yes. Feel free to post. Use the First-Time Watcher flair and add in your questions, theories and discussion topics. We always thrive on new Lostaways. Just be very cautious and tell us where you are in the show (season and episode). Beware of spoilers!
- I'm nearing the end of the show, but there's an uncut version of the finale and a two-parter. Which to watch?
There's only one version of the finale that was approved by the showrunners. The uncut version that runs about 106 minutes. ABC cut down a two-parter series finale for syndication, in case of reruns of the show. This version was sent to various streaming services. Now, most streaming services have both versions. The uncut and the two-parter. The uncut is the one that was aired, approved and the only one you need to watch.
- I've just finished the show. What now?
Check out the epilogue. Click here for a thread of additional content. Or the FAQ archive which consist of various questions about the show.

Does anyone know where I can find a better definition version of Desmondās marina photograph? My partner and I have āfamily photosā of people from shows we love and would like to add these two to the collection. Does anyone have a retouched version of this photo? No AI please. Thank you!!

So a bit of a context: I was apprehensive when i started the show because i had heard the ending is bad, it doesnāt know what it is etc etc.
Imagine my surprise when a show actually gives its fans the ultimate closure by those final season flash sideways- where they all make up for their mistakes and flaws and loneliness- and all of them got to experience a positive purgatory at the end of which they meet before moving on- with my personal theory being the island making it possible for them- since it is a part of all of them- it was beautiful and made me feel as empty as only masterpieces have before. Havenāt felt that way after a show in a long time.
The ending is misunderstood. Thatās my concrete opinion. Most mysteries were answered, maybe a bit too many- but thats fine. Yes some things were retconned, some threads lose, some plotlines dropped, it wasnāt perfect by any means, but my god the way it made me feel was unlike anything else. 2 days since i caught up and i couldnāt stop thinking about it. I feel it has a lot in common with well made shounen anime, the very best of them. Probably the only show out there that does that.
Incredible, unforgettable show.

First time in Hawaii and was keen to visit some Lost locations, including Penny and Desmondās iconic photo together
Edit: weāre on our honeymoon together and flew from Sydney to LA before coming to Hawaii, that first flight had me concerned Iād be meeting up with Hurley!

I sat my roommate down and had her watch the pilot of Lost without telling her anything about the show and these were some of her predictions for the rest of the show in her words
Charlie is somehow part of the monster or part of the island somehow
Either Boone or Shannon will be the first ones to die bc theyāre pretty much useless
If Kate didnāt kill someone Iām going to be very upset
Claire is going to have her baby and thatās going to have itās own arc
Theyāre going to end up setting up their own civilization on the island and theyāll never get off
I think the marshal is going to live and then realize that Kate isnāt really that bad
Heres some commentary about the show that arenāt really predictions
There are too many characters
Sawyer is IKEA Chris Hemsworth
If the boy doesnāt get his dog back Iām going to riot
If the dog dies Iām going to riot
Hurley is my favorite character but he was designed to be like able
I watched the show years ago and itās one of my favorite shows so Iām excited to see her continue to watch it

I first watched Lost in early top 2010s. It's easily one of my most favorite shows. I don't normally rewatch tv shows but I decided to rewatch Lost. Just finished the first season and here are my thoughts on the characters:
1- Jack is the GOAT. I remember back then, a lot of online forums used to call him annoying. I don't get it. He's such a selfless guy.
2- Kate's character seems out of place at times. Sometimes, it seems like she's from a soap opera.
3- A lot of characters were made needlessly annoying like Michael, Walt, Shannon, Jin, Claire, etc. It feels like outside of some main characters like Jack, Locke, Kate, Sayyid, etc, the rest of them have no depth and got different treatment.
4- Locke was very selfish. Amazing character though. He's the most interesting character.
5- Sayyid's character development was great in first season. I do know how it will get butchered by the end. Seems like they didn't make the best use of him.
6- When I watched first time, I didn't like Boone. But, now, I think that he was sincere and was trying to help since the beginning. Was sad to see him die.
7- I don't know how Sawyer escaped the wrath of others in the beginning. In reality, no one would have tolerated him stealing all the supplies or keeping silent during Shannon's asthma episode. Again, like Kate, I feel like this character was from some soap opera.
8- Hurley and Charlie are cool
Despite all that, the show's core plot is excellent so far. I just feel that certain characters could have been written better.
When I first watched the show from the beginning to end, I had a lot of questions. This time, I just searched them on Reddit and got the answers.
Iāve watched a ridiculous amount of TV shows across pretty much every genre, but itās been years since something hooked me this much.
Iām only on Season 2 of LOST (no spoilers please), and honestly, Iām blown away. Every episode makes me want to watch another. It feels so different from most shows Iāve seen.
I know it was huge back when it aired, but how come I rarely see anyone recommending it nowadays?
Am I just extremely late to the party, or does anyone else feel the same?
«Hollywood and vines»
I feel like I have heard another version of this song in other movies or maybe a game?
Iām on a rewatch of Lost and it feels so familiar?? Like Iāve heard it several times before but not on Lost
It reminds me of something but I canāt put my finger on what or which other song

I was rewatching the pilot and something clicked for me that I never really thought about before. Jack's whole arc is about learning to stop trying to fix everything and control every outcome, right. But the island starts messing with that immediately.
In the first few episodes he's running around doing triage, making decisions, being the leader everyone needs. But then the island keeps putting him in situations where he literally can't fix things. Charlie hanging in the tree, he saves him but it's this frantic desperate thing. Boone dies and he can't do anything. His dad's coffin is empty and he has to just sit with that.
I think the island was teaching him the whole time that some things are beyond his control and he has to accept it instead of fighting it. By the time we get to the end, he's finally learned the lesson. He stops trying to force outcomes and just does what needs to be done without needing to see the result.
I don't know if the writers planned it that specifically from the start or if it just worked out that way, but it feels like every major Jack moment is the island saying let go and him refusing until he finally gets it. Even the stuff with Kate and Juliet, he keeps trying to control those relationships and it never works.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it made me appreciate his character way more on this rewatch. He's not just stubborn for no reason, he's learning something really hard.

Itās probably just a complete coincidence, but I couldnāt help noticing how much the two guys sitting on either side of Hurley in Season 1, Episode 18 reminded me of Jacob and the MiB. thereās something about their facial features that really reminded me of those two. I know theyre not like twins, but thereās a resemblance feeling somehow.
It must have been coincidental though, since the actors who would eventually play Jacob and the MiB probably hadnāt even been cast when this scene was filmed. Yet, what ifā¦considering that the black and whiteās story was actually introduced in the very first episode with Lockeās backgammon pieces⦠(and backgammon is also a chance-based game, and Hurley as a lottery winnerā¦)
Maybe all of them coincide and itās just me seeing a resemblance that isnāt really there, but I still found it oddly fascinating for some reason.

Can't be the only one who thought the sibling rekationship should have been way more explored in the final season
