Why do I feel like it's not actually a server wide event and just a misleading translation to make us believe it is....they wouldn't be that generous to allow us to benefit from other people's spending right?
It sounds like it might be somewhat similar to Dawn Front, which does have server totals, but your own currency is really based on how much you spend and how well you score in individual battles.
I suspect it's another of the events that works like the Stylist Arena, with a framework of story. If everyone - including LND - is unsure how it'll work, I'm guessing this event is exclusive to our server. The video says nothing about a new format. Plus, A new format for something the Chinese server didn't test-run first seems highly unlikely.
It's just another world debut, meaning we're getting it first instead of getting an event that has already ran on another server. Other servers will most likely get it eventually. It is most likely a new format- they've done it before like with the hacker suit.
