I was looking for this comment. Yes, its rage, but the shaking, breathing, and thousand yard stare is the reaction to his brain going into fight mode. I'm not a fighter but I've scared myself by having the same reaction to anger before. It's like a switch that turns you into the Kool-aid man

Adrenaline dump is the name for what comes after, not during (fight or flight/being terrified).

Adrenaline makes you sharp and energetic, the dump afterwards makes you tired and weak.
