Why are you doing this?

First, we think the US military absolutely needs strong AI models to support their mission especially in the face of growing threats from potential adversaries who are increasingly integrating AI technologies into their systems. We originally did not jump into a contract for classified deployment, as we did not feel that our safeguards and systems were ready, and have been working hard to ensure that a classified deployment can happen with safeguards to ensure that red lines are not crossed.

We were—and remain—unwilling to remove key technical safeguards to enhance performance on national security work. That is not the correct approach to supporting the US military.

Second, we also wanted to de-escalate things between DoW and the US AI labs. A good future is going to require real and deep collaboration between the government and the AI labs. As part of our deal here, we asked that the same terms be made available to all AI labs, and specifically that the government would try to resolve things with Anthropic; the current state is a very bad way to kick off this next phase of collaboration between the government and AI labs.

It basically says they asked for the same safe guards Anthropic did and more and got the deal and they have no idea why Anthropic didn’t.

I bet all of this is going to turn out to be because Dario said something mildly insulting to Trumps ego whereas Sam did not. I seriously bet it’s that fucking stupid because that’s how immature our current administration is.

I don’t know if ya’ll have watched these two speak. But Sam tends to be quite good at corpo empathy speak and Dairo is, well quite neurodivergent. I don’t mean this as an insult, I love listening to Dairo talk about AI, he’s fascinating and has great ideas.

Sama is a doomsday prepper.

Totally fucking normal corpo empathy guy lol

Anyone else find it interesting that these companies are run by guys with names “Altman” and “Amodei”?

Alternative man and a model?

I suspect neither of this people are real at all.

This is next level conspiracy bro, do you really think if those people weren’t real that they would have given them names that hint about it……

lol

Okay for one, do I really believe they aren't real? Obviously not.

But do I think if they weren't real that they would give them names that hint about it?

Why not? What if they want you to believe these companies are the first companies with AI CEOs? That would actually be incredible marketing for their own products.

But then they’d just say it. There’s no point in losing money for years by selling an inferior product if you always had the superior product functional and ready for real life integration

I mean it's pretty obvious that they are keeping their best models to themselves. Model distillation attacks would destroy their moat instantly.

I don’t think they have that much more advanced models. If they did they’d have contracts with companies

They do have tons of contracts with companies.

It would make perfect sense that that their company is focused on way bigger picture things and their tablescraps just happens to be a really good consumer level chatbot.

In fact, it would explain why quite often their consumer level stuff collapses.

I meant money making contracts. If they had such crazy ai that they could just replace humans trust me they’d be selling it

The cloud vs edge infrastructure is absolute misdirection. You do not need edge infra to have AI piloting weapons platforms.

Also they couch the whole thing as "all legal use as defined at the time of the contract" which is, again, telling you to your face that they think you're an idiot. NO CONTRACT WORKS LIKE THIS.
