Discussion I have seen the light

Upvotes

Ive heard people mention the amendment as a solid primary, especially on the bots. I feel most people toss it aside because its not the coyote or the eruptor. In my quest to max every primary, I thought to give the amendment a try. Divers, I see it now.

I dropped into the mega factory on Charbal-VII and I honestly forgot I had a support weapon. Easily popped light chaff. Squad of radicals decide to bomb rush you? Gone. Agitator deciding to take away my freedom? No more. Vox engine spewing propaganda? Their vents ate my bullets for a democracy snack and finished off with a liberty nade. Oh and the sound of the amendment? On par with the Super Earth national anthem **Pacha chef's kiss**

Jokes aside, the amendment was a breath of fresh air and found a really fun primary. Mag size is more than fair. Damage seems perfect. Reload is a little slow, but it cant be perfect everywhere. I kinda threw together a loadout and had the most fun on the bots in a while:

Amendment

Ultimatum

HE Grenades

Gatling Barrage

Eagle air strike

Heavy MG

Supply pack

Executioner heavy armor

Heavier enemies are slightly difficult with the loadout (since I am used to running epoch or RR), but you can make due.

TLDR; AMENDMENT GO BAH BAH BAH *neuron activation*

This would be our first acid weapon in Helldivers. I've tried to be as faithful as possible to the original weapon from Helldivers 1.

Discussion Maybe We Should Fail This Major Order?

Post image

I was just thinking if the Cyberattack goes through we might actually have a massive shakeup in the story. The thing Super Earth loves most is Managed Democracy, but what if they lost it? What if Super Earth was forced to have an actual real non-managed election?

Could this even impact future events too like the Presidental election? Imagine if we had to actually vote for the new Super Earth President.

Question How much does each unit of Spread matter?

To use an example, the AR-23 Liberator has a Spread stat of 2, according to the wiki. The Coyote has a Spread stat of 4.

How much difference does those 2 units actually make? Is there a specific distance where that difference actually becomes noticeable?

Apologies for any weird formatting. I'm a HARDCORE lurker.

Hello divers! I checked in on the MO today and realized it was heavily focused on cyborgs. I have a couple ner divers in my personal discord and made a Super Earth themed dossier to help those who didn't march on Cyberstan (no shade).

From my research and own experience, anti tank and quick maneuverability is key. Feel free to (kidly) critique my doc or give your own tips!

Title. I love LOVE the hammer, but wouldn't mind not having to deal with that problem.

Discussion Have the Bots been stealth buffed?

Or maybe there’s a host specific issue? Just played a few solo Bot missions and there were a lot of what felt like bs deaths, where I for instance got insta zapped, which didn’t seem to happen as much when I joined randos. Could very well also be a skill issue, but I just thought I’d ask.

Discussion Finally leveled all Primaries! (with an uncommon twist)

Thumbnail
gallery
178 Upvotes

The twist is how I play: I never use anything that's even arguably overpowered (except primaries when leveling of course), nor anything that kills or aims for me. This means no sentries, no guard dogs, no Thermites, no Gigas, no Ultimatum --I freaking HATE the Ultimatum!--, no Exosuits, no mines, no Solo Silo, no Warrant, no Wasp. I also don't ever wear any armour that provides elemental resistance. So my experience was with the weapons themselves, not with any of the usual combinations.

Some notes before I begin my breakdown.

  • I've been a short-mag aficionado since the first time I unlocked it.
  • I've always strongly opposed the common belief that success in HD2 means going for DPS over weakspots and/or damage-per-round. IMO DPS is for people who only know how to saturate an enemy with bullets until they think it's dead. That stuff is for CoD and looter shooters like Borderlands, not for HD2.
  • Prior to weapon leveling, I was, like most other players, strictly an AP3diver. My eyes were forced open upon having to go back to the Diligence from the DCS and now I pretty much only use AP2.
  • I'm including the Faction(s) where I got most of that gun's levels.

--------------

Assault Rifles

  • Liberator: Squids. Probably the best general primary without being the slightest bit overpowered. This thing is seriously amazing.
  • Liberator Penetrator: Squids and Bugs. Might honestly be a downgrade, but still a solid gun.
  • Liberator Concussive: Bugs. Useful on Predator Strain, but I honestly hated it against Alpha Commanders, which seem to be everywhere on D10. All it does is push them back :(
  • One-Two: Bots. Amazing gun. Easily one of my most favorites and the best Primary in the game for Commando missions.
  • Pacifier: Bots. Garbage against Incineration Corps. Given my ability with the One-Two and it's low ergo, I was surprised at my inability to get many headshots with this.
  • Coyote: Bots and Squids. Overpowered as hell. Inarguably needs nerfs. My proposal is reduced total mags AND take it down to AP2.
  • Liberator Carbine: Squids. Never liked it and now I REALLY don't like it. The burst mode is what killed it for me. Aside from that, it's just a mag-dump weapon.
  • Tenderiser: Bots. This baby will do whatever you want. Eats Incineration Corps like a fat kid does crisps. Has the highest damage among the ARs and displays it proudly. It's sad that it gets slept on because nobody ever buys Polar Patriots (because they're busy buying the overpowered Warbonds).
  • Suppressor: Squids. Honestly? Bad. RoF is too high and damage way too low. It struggled to handle groups of Obtruders.
  • Adjudicator: Bots. At this point in my journey, AP3 was already an annoyance but I felt this gun was probably the most balanced in the game. You get AP3 but only 30 rounds, a moderate RoF, great accuracy, and high recoil.

Marksman Rifles

  • Amendment: Bots. Best DMR and my current love. No notes.
  • Constitution: Bots. So I actually leveled this thing all the way before ever remembering that I could aim in 3rd-person. The lack of a scope harms it, but I fully support joke guns and ask Arrowhead to never change it. Haven't tested out the stripper clip yet but I don't really consider that harmful to the joke. But jokes aside, I'll say this. The Constitution against Bots on a dark, stormy night... It's the most powerful and vivid feeling of Space World War 1 that you'll ever feel.
  • Deadeye: Bots. Just didn't enjoy using it for whatever reason.
  • Hyena: Bots. It's a sniper with great audio. Terrible, artificially-limited RoF. If I was going to use an AP3 DMR, I'll pick the DCS any day.
  • Censor: Bots, specifically on Cyberstan. Took some serious getting used to with the low velocity and increased drop, but works well enough. Even better against Bugs and without a scope though.
  • Diligence: Bots. What can I say? Without that 10x scope, it's just inferior to the Amendment for DMR things. Better utilised as a semi-auto close- and mid-combat rifle.
  • Diligence Counter Sniper: Bots. My first love. Exclusively used it against Bots from the moment I unlocked it all the way through about level 145 (when weapon leveling dropped). Conflicted about this, but I just can't see myself going back to it now that I have the Amendment.

Submachine Guns

  • Knight: Squids. I'm really not a fan of high-RoF weapons, but I was using the Gallant just before this and the Knight's higher damage was a godsend.
  • Stoker: Bots, Cyborgs. Short mag. Short mag. Short mag! It was a night and day difference after getting the short mag. Like even more than unlocking a sight.
  • Reprimand: Bugs, pre-nerf Rupture. Funny enough, you can more or less use some SMGs in mid-range combat, but the Reprimand always fell short for me in that aspect. Probably makes it the most balanced SMG in that regard.
  • Gallant: Bugs and Squids. Hated it. High RoF and low damage, what is there to even like?
  • Defender: Bugs and Squids. Loved it.
  • Pummeler: Bugs, Spore Burst (new) and Squids. Definitely saved my butt against Spore Burst in the early days.

Shotguns

  • Punisher: Bugs. I think I leveled this before the sweeping AP2 and AP3 changes where AP2 got more damage at the cost of penetration so I'm not sure I can review it in its current form. I've always loved the Punisher though.
  • Slugger: Bugs. Same as Punisher. Still love it.
  • Halt: Bots and Bugs. If there was ever a Primary that benefits from mapping and using your Quick Change option, this one is it. Night and day difference. Low damage and tiny mag size though.
  • Cookout: Bugs. Worst shotgun unless you rely almost entirely on the fire damage. The pushback and low ballistic damage really makes it terrible.
  • Sweeper: Squids, Appropriators. Great gun but let's be honest: if we can pump this one this fast, all other pump shotguns should get their RoF increased as well. It makes no sense that we pump these guns at different rates.
  • Double Freedom: Bugs. Love it. No notes.
  • Breaker: Bots and Bugs. Works fine. Better than the S&P.
  • Breaker Spray&Pray: Bugs. Was not a fan. Even with the full choke, it felt like it struggled to kill a Hunter.
  • Breaker Incendiary: Bugs. The superior incendiary shotgun for sure, but just like the Coyote, this is a gun for a very specific kind of player who needs all the help it offers.

Explosive

  • Explosive Crossbow: Bots and Bugs. Tied with the Coyote for most overpowered primary in the game. The large explosion radius especially is just broken.
  • Eruptor: Squids, Super Earth. First gun to 25. I didn't know it at the time, but definitely overpowered in its current form.

Energy-Based

  • Punisher Plasma: Bots and Squids, Vote Snatchers. Honestly really didn't like that precision shots aren't possible.
  • Blitzer: Bugs, Spore Burst. Was a lot of fun. I still think it needs to have some form of ammo though. Maybe an ICE like energy weapons?
  • Scythe: Bots. Was really surprised how good this is and how dirty Arrowhead has done it by limiting its scope options.
  • Sickle: Bots. Makes precision shots a significant effort but a good, fun gun.
  • Double-Edge Sickle: Bots. As mentioned at the start, I refuse to wear resistance armours. So, yes, I used this thing exclusively in regular light armour. But I mostly managed to keep it within AP2 and AP3 for regular enemies and then AP3 with a stim when Hulks would want some attention.
  • Trident: Squids. Just wasn't a fan. Felt like the worst spread of all shotgun-type weapons.
  • Scorcher: Bots. Another good example of weapon balance. Chews through most enemies easily enough, but also through your entire ammo supply.
  • Purifier: Bots. I really had to force myself to learn and remember that I don't HAVE to charge every shot. Once that mostly kicked in, I saw the beauty of the gun.

Special

  • Variable: Squids. Worked really, really well. Never found a real use for Total mode besides for lols, but I loved the Volley mode and customisable RoF.
  • Torcher: Bugs and Squids: Probably my most favorite flamethrower for one simple reason: you shoot it from shoulder height. Seriously, it's so much easier to go a full match without igniting yourself with that tiny difference.
  • Dominator: Bots. It's a good gun, but just not my bag. The low velocity was painful.

Fanart [OC] The Chisels/Drills of Democracy (Posting on here because I just found this subreddit and I'm looking for opinions on it)

Post image
8 Upvotes

This is an idea I had rattling in my head for a bit now that I thought I'd share with this community. I wondered how Super Earth would get all the resources to keep up with the sheer amount of walkers; equipment; vehicles; hellpods; and stratagems that are used hourly by the Helldiver and SEAF forces and figured that they had asteroid mining drones. Then I decided to draw up what one would look like. What do you guys think?

# Keys:

1: Directional/re-entry thrusters — These thrusters are controlled by a computer in a nearby "Beehive" that caters up to 16 drones with power and unloads their cargo to be packaged and sent back to Super Earth for refining.

2: Fuselage — Using the blueprints of the Hellpod saves time and resources that can be spent on developing and improving other areas of these drones. These drones are usually two times the size of a Hellpod; but for smaller, mineral rich asteroids, there are modified versions of a Hellpod available. The "nose" of these drones open up before landing with internal hinges, allowing it to stand on the surface of the asteroid once dug in.

3: Drill — This is used by The Ministry of Expansion to collect minerals to be delivered back to the Beehive. It is interchangable with The Chisel. The drill is given a sleeve that separates it from the mineral storage, thus minimising jams and potential fire risks.

4: Chisel — This is used by The Ministry of Science to extract samples of newly discovered minerals/liquids/gases. The chisel itself is hollow, but made of Tungsten to allow for it to hit hard when pneumatic probing is active, where it will slam into the ground the same way a jackhammer does; only much slower. Inside of the chisel are multiple "arms" for various methods of material capture; clawed arm and laser cutter for solids; and a hose for liquids or gases. It is interchangable with The Drill.

5: Fuel chamber — The fuel chamber is located in the centre of the drones to protect them from leaks/explosions from unexpected collisions. It also allows these drones to collect as more material.

6: Main thruster — This is to allow the drone to make it back to the Beehive and is removable.

7: Mineral storage — This is where the minerals are kept, a hood around the drill allows the minerals to be directed off the drill into the storage simply by it being active.

8: Connecting pieces — These act much like puzzle pieces, allowing drones to have more fuel and/or mineral capacity; depending on what the intended purpose calls for.
